A few court room sketches really isn’t enough for me to be sold on that assumption The UN have said he is being tortured. He is being prescribed 'unspecified drugs' according to the Daily Mail by the doctors in Belmarsh. An extremely intelligent and erudite person being reduced to the state he has been described as recently has to raise huge questions.
welshbairn
I don't get the massive revenge stauner the US and UK have for punishing Assange, it's not like he's a current security threat, but you have to wonder what his current situation would be if he'd stayed in Sweden to face the sexual assault charges, instead of flying to Britain with the matter unsettled, a country with far more streamlined extradition procedures to the US than Sweden. 7 years confined in the Ecuadorian Embassy, a year in Belmarsh for breaching bail and another 2 years and counting fighting extradition to the US with probably more to come, here and possibly in the US.

He was never charged with any crime in Sweden. The USA is making an example of him to deter anyone else from challenging them in the future. It's same thing as the Donziger case.

I cant read the article but whats his argument against the union in this case? I cant imagine any union especially nowadays ever asking for more than it deserves.

The one that supports weapons of mass destruction on the clyde, negotiated the pay deal that discriminated against women and stayed silent until Labour were finally turfed out of the GCC then suddenly decided to take action, donated 10's of thousands to Better Together, hates nationalism and the waving of flags (except for this one). If the GMB wanted to remove the political element from these discussions on workers rights, pay and conditions they could always stop giving money to the British Labour and Unionist party or doing photoshoots with has-been English Labour MPs. This is just not true. You are rewriting history with this narrative. Dear oh dear "sit the f**k down". Probably best that you know what you are talking about before making statements like that. Quote APPEAL BY GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL AGAINST (FIRST) UNISON CLAIMANTS; (SECOND) HBJ CLAIMANTS (FORMERLY "FOX CROSS"); AND (THIRD) GMB CLAIMANTS Quote The Glasgow City Council v Unison case was backed by the GMB union and solicitors HBJ. GMB Scotland Organiser Hazel Nolan said: “This was an opportunity for the council to do the right thing by thousands of low-paid women with equal pay claims against their employer and GMB warmly welcomes this unanimous decision. So just to repeat my point on your original post - you don't half speak shite.

How familiar.
DeeTillEhDeh
It's naivety to think there aren't political motivations behind some union action.Funnily enough the GMB also rejected the nurses pay offer in the run up to the Scottish elections. The GMB's National Officer Public Services Section is Karen Leonard, wife of the ex-SLab leader. Maybe just a coincidence but I was involved in Labour politics long enough to know that is unlikely to be the case.
