It’s the English parliament - in the same basic shape as it was in the 17th century. As far as I know, it made no concession to becoming a new, “British” institution when it let some Scots in.

Does this not get a bit tedious for you as well man?

That's certainly true, I just think stuff like this isn't really a protest at the rules more a quick headline grab. If she wanted to make the point she could have reeled off lie after lie without directly saying so but leaving it wide open for all to see. At least Mhari Black had age as an excuse and it certainly seemed more authentic. Dawn Butler is very good at what she does imo and is a shrewder (is that even a word?) political operative than she acts.

Imagine having a government and parliamentary set-up that’s so backward and shambolic that you’re not actually allowed to directly call out lies and corruption but have to hide it behind innuendo and indirect hypotheticals. What a fucking shambles. Lol

Aye I think she's good too. But honestly who that's not on Twitter knows who she is, labour  politicians have a big problem with recognition on the street in the same way Tories under Howard etc did, been out of power and cycled through leadership so much. I think they just keep overestimating how many people care. As much as "needing to have a conversation with the voters" is nauseating management speak they need to get some recognition and credibility (which isn't going to happen with Keith anytime soon).

God no, language rules are the only things that stop it becoming an exchange of twitter style rants, it's bad enough already. "Last month you said A, today you said B. When were you telling the truth?" Much better than "You big fat liar!"

Aah, Alan Clark, there's one of the worst.

The phrase itself goes back much further and was used by Robert Armstrong .....

Anyway, I see I've been beaten to it, so I'll just leave you dear reader to research if it pleases you so to do, the wickedness of Clark

I knew he was a c**t, not quite on that scale though. Dominic Lawson's not that saintly either though, he blamed Brexit on same sex marriage.

Dawn Butler was quite right. It's time someone on the opposition benches started calling him and/or one of his henchmen a lying cùnt every single day. "Let the record show that X was removed for calling Boris Johnson a lying cùnt". Every single day

It's ridiculous that this cosy anachronistic club has the ridiculous rule that you can't accuse another member of "lying" or being a "liar", yet parliamentary privilege sees members get away with absolute murder.

Of course it’s all part of the kayfabe and Dawn knows what she’s doing but it’s worth remarking that she’s managed to do in a couple of minutes what her opponent for the deputy leadership, Angela Rayner, has utterly failed to do over the entirety of the Euros and that’s getting any sort of attention and eyes focused on her for dunking on the PM.

Give me Butler calling him a liar and getting flung out versus Rayner’s tortured Euros analogies and weird quips about border controls and Gareth’s defensive tactics as analogies for Patel’s policies in the Home Office.

Absolutely agree. Dawn has always been a strong advocate for women's and minority rights, and a tireless worker for social justice. The only reason this got the minimal coverage it did was because she called the lying cúnt out in the House, and was removed for it. This allows an "uppity woman cannnot work within the rules of a civilised parliament" story to develop. * None of the outlets I've seen thought to acknowledge that her accusations were provably true. We are now supposed to accept that our country is governed by liars, and that she is in the wrong for saying so? Fúck that.

Rayner, on the other hand, continues to disappoint on a daily basis. The firebrand honesty and passion she displayed four years ago has been discarded in favour of being a bag-carrier for an empty shirt. I won't go as far as to call her behaviour a betrayal, but I can understand members who do. It was very noticeable that, not only has she never had the gumption to act as DB did yesterday, her tweet after the event not only didn't offer Dawn solidarity, it didn't even mention her. Rayner must have spent too much time with Starmer and is scared of catching Socialism.

*And you can bet the word "uppity"would be used.

Taking it in turns, like the 1990 Argentina team sharing out the yellow cards for badgering the referee?

The SG should have been open about this.  Pretty disgraceful that they weren’t.

And that may just cost the SNP My vote.

I vote SNP as I believe they are the best route to Independence; it is also why I am a member, albeit an inactive one, and give them financial support.

It would take a bit more than that for me to change that position but I share your annoyance/anger.  It is the sort of thing the SG should be transparent about whereas they appear to have gone in the opposite direction.

In the grand scheme of things there are probably more important issues but I expect better from an SNP government than I would from one of a different political persuasion.

"That costs how much? f**k that. Not paying it. See to it."

Poor show all round. The SNP haven't covered themselves in glory. Okay, there's f**k all they could do to stop Brenda. But at the same time, they owe her absolutely nothing and should have been entirely transparent on this.

Still, we love our Queen.....God saves.

"The Queen’s consent procedure, which critics have called anti-democratic, has been used repeatedly by the monarch in recent decades to secretly lobby for changes to proposed UK legislation before it is passed by parliament.

The extent of the practice in Scotland, where it is known as crown consent, has until now been unknown to the public."

There can be no doubt that Brenda, as well as being a concern troll par excellence, is a total fucking parasite.

These rules and laws don't apply to her and where's my fucking new yacht???
