topcat(The most tip top)
Does staunch mean anything south of the border, other than being stubborn about keeping to the bowling club rules or something? They might not have known what you were on about.Never mind south of the borderBeing from one of the more irreligious and secular parts of Scotland I’ve never encountered “Staunch” in the P&B usage anywhere else and was confused when I saw it first. I think it was VT who explained it. To normal readers it just looks incomplete. It’s like saying someone is very
Granny Danger
Not sure where to put this. It’s a pretty scandalous story and probably has COVID and unlawful killings to thank for not having more prominence. Don’t see how he can avoid resigning given his admission https://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/robert-jenrick-resign-isle-of-dogs-development_uk_5ed005dac5b687804c80727f Faced with the prospect of having to publicly release documents relating to the case, Jenrick accepted his decision letter was “unlawful by reason of apparent bias” and confirmed it was deliberately issued before the new CIL policy could be adopted. He agreed planning permission should be quashed and decided by a different minister.

He may well not have twigged yet the seriousness of admitting that his decision was “unlawful by reason of apparent bias”. Ordinarily you would expect a Boris adviser to tell him he has to bullet this guy. But Dom is lying low (after committing the far smaller indiscretion of giving in to the temptation of a wee trip to a beauty spot)
welshbairn
That story came out on Wednesday in the Guardian, probably totally swamped by the Cummings shenanigans. Indefensible on the face of it. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/may/27/richard-desmond-housing-project-unlawfully-approved-robert-jenrick-isle-dogs-london-avoid-40m-hit

lichtgilphead
I've not heard of Black Isle Media before, but if there's any truth in these allegations, it looks as if Dominic Cummings & his father have been breaching planning laws and not paying council tax on the "spare cottage" https://universalcreditsuffer.com/2020/05/31/cummings-spare-cottage-without-planning-permission-and-pays-no-council-tax/ Will be interesting to see if this is picked up by the MSM

Even leaving the planning/Council Tax issue aside, the fact that he jointly owns the property means it would be classed as a second home. I’m pretty sure one of the cabinet members wheeled out to support Cummings said something along the lines of “it’s not like he was visiting a second home”.

BFTD
That Gaelic gravestone thing is mindblowing. You can't inscribe the language of your nearest neighbour in case somebody thinks it's a political statement. If people in the West Midlands are that thick, they probably wouldn't even realise it was Irish anyway. Or be able to read the English translation. Daniel Radcliffe has always come across as a good c**t.

BawWatchin
Nothing like stabbing the person who made you a success in the back, based on twisted media headlines, because you couldn't be bothered to take the 5 minutes to read what they actually said. Emma Watson tweeted "Trans people are whoever they say they are". Well in that case, i'm trans and i'm self identifying myself as a toaster. This means i'm made out of metal. Forget science, biology and fact. That's for the transphobes. -
