Those headline numbers are meaningless. Without at least a partial breakdown it's not possible to tell if they are ripping the pish.

Flights into London City Airport on a Monday and back again on a Thursday are silly prices. Running an office and staff costs a lot as well. Nothing really wrong with claiming every penny for every allowable expense.

How about the £400.00 unreceipted expenses they can claim EVERY month on Food!!? FOOD FFS. (This is in addition to overnight/dinner expenses)

In how many other jobs could you take the missus for the monthly ‘big shop’ at Sainsbury’s and say at the till, ‘it’s ok hon, put your purse away the Governments getting this one’!?

Why should the taxpayer stump up for their breakfast roll or a fish supper!!?
Greedy, gluttonous Pigs the fuckin lot of em.

How did that one go m8?

Massive labour landslide and the start of the Tony Bliar era.

If only he had won that seat. We'd all be wearing a monocle and bowlers hat and the middle east would still be  in one piece. bQshDtu.png

I think your information maybe a little out of date.  As far as I am aware this was binned at the time IPSA was formed and the expense allowances re-written.

SNP need to kill this parking levy and relaunch it with better assurances no employee would pay it. They have been hooked into reacting once again. Labour and Tories running rings around them. This guy thinks by exposing the (actually true) incongruence in actions here that he is winning the argument. He is losing.

Not much point of a discretionary fund raising charge designed to save the planet and reduce urban pollution to within legal levels if no employee would have an incentive to cycle or take the bus instead.

How would an employee pay a tax on employers?

Tory councillors protest against it, meanwhile leader of Edinburgh Council and SNP politician Adam McVey speaks positively about introducing it to Edinburgh.

SNP definitely losing the PR war here.

It's so frustrating because they just seem repeatedly blind to these pitfalls and when called out on it either double down or spend hours clarifying and make it worse. A child could have told them this would blow up in their faces.

Was this not one of the things that the Greens insisted on to help get the budget passed?  Not sure that they can do much about it now other than plow on.

Yes. They could have started all the PR with "employees pay nothing for this" but because they didn't, or worse wouldn't, its now an albatross around both their necks.

Greens come across as the anti-business party stereotype, SNP get to look beholden to them.

But there's no point in it as a Green policy if there's no incentive to people leaving their cars at home. You might as well just raise business rates.

The SNP leader of Edinburgh Council has said as much too. It’s fair comment if you’re going to introduce it, may as well incentivise workers.

I’m not convinced Edinburgh has the transport system to do it fairly. They can hide behind ‘award winning buses’ I guess.
