So small increase in personal allowance (up £650) but far greater increase before higher rate starts (up £3,650).

So a budget for the middle classes.

How does this work for Scottish taxpayers?  For instance he's not starting the higher rate of tax now to £50,000 but in Scotland it starts at £43,430 (41%)  Does that remain the same?

The personal allowance bit applies in Scotland but the higher rate bit doesn’t.

As opposed to the SNP who blatantly tell you that you’re being forced to pay a higher tax rate than the rest of the uk.
I wonder how much they’ll rob from us this time when the personal rates are increased in April?
You obviously have issues with income taxation levels in Scotland. Where do you stand with tax avoidance - should someone like myself be taking advice, rather than being taken advantage of ?

I'm hearing stories of military police entering universities and removing books on fascism, taking down anti facist posters and interrupting classes due to the 'ideological content'.

Where are you hearing that? Worrying if it's not a whoosh.

So let's see if i've got this right. Scotland is facing up to 2 billion pounds of cuts in real terms for next years budget, while around 2 billion pounds of additional funding was found from "somewhere" for England and Northern Ireland? yXAbrOQ.png

Excellent budget yesterday.
National Living Wage increased.
Tax free Allowances increased yet again.
Restrictions on Letting Relief.
Clampdown on tax and NI insurance avoidance through fake "self employment" extended to private industry.
650,000 new homes to be built.
More money for those on welfare payments.
A digital services tax.
Cuts in business rates.
An end to PFI.
All good stuff. Not much to complain about.

Tay cities deal not being matched.

Just a couple of weeks ago everyone from the DUP to Labour and even Tory rebels were all, for various reasons, hinting they could vote down the budget. It all seems to have gone a bit quiet now.

Have they been appeased by the revised tax thresholds which clearly favour the better off?

No, the Tories are worried about a GE and the possibility of Corbyn as PM.

Half the Labour MPs are worried about a GE and Corbyn as PM.
