The Toothache thread

Sounds like a great way to make money. The punters would be glad of shoddy dental work so they would have to go back for more.

Hmmm. How much is gender reassignment surgery these days anyway?

Dunfermline was clearly leading the way in this field. Around the same time, the local strip club launched a creche service to appeal to the local dads traipsing their kids around town.

I got elbowed in the face playing football about six years ago. My wisdom tooth that came in well, broke and a piece of the tooth got lodged on the nerve. I was in agony all night. I had taken all the pain killers I was able to take, so I then went through to the bathroom to have a look at the tooth and I could see the bit lodged. I managed to pull this tiny bit out with a tweezers, and the pain subsided immediately. The relief was almost orgasmic.

I then had the wisdom tooth removed the next day. But that wasn't the end of it. The Wisdom tooth had come in at a funny angle and had pushed against my back molar weakening it. So I had to go back and get something done to that as well. I haven't had tooth ache since but I carry on living in fear of it returning and going to the dentist.

I had a wisdom tooth removed a couple of years ago. It was quite painful from time to time so went to have it looked at.

I was reliably informed by my dentist that it was nothing serious, however if I wished it to be pulled they would be happy to do so. As they're utterly fucking pointless and it was an annoying pain from time to time, I happily agreed.

Went along the next week, nice and early to get it removed.

All drugged up, and the girl started her work. Was at it for a good ten minutes or so, first trying to pull it as you do, then trying to break it to make it easier (how?!).

A full fifteen minutes later, with this bird basically straddling me to get better leverage, the tooth flies out.

I noticed a look of surprise on her face, so asked her what the script was.

"If I had known the root was that developed, I would never have pulled it."

I've had a fair few blows to the head/jaw over the years, but by f**k this was the worst pain I had ever felt. About an hour afterwards it genuinely felt like someone had been jumping up and down on my jaw. Absolute agony.

You know what the strange thing is about toothache?

See when you first get it and it kicks in severely (like you know its not just a wee twinge and its only going to get worse if you don't get it seen to) within the space of a few minutes its hard to remember what life was ever like prior to toothache.

Now that its gone its hard to remember what it was like when it was here.

A lot can happen in 20 hours.

Hello, I have heard that toothache, or the pain can be reduced by ffs p***ks. CR

I thought you said “romantic therapy”. Either way, you’re better off going to a dentist or (mechanic in your case) rather than asking this lot on here.

A very tricky question that tends to polarise opinion.

First ever tooth extraction last year, right sided (up at the very back) wisdom tooth was decayed. Ignored the pain at first hoping it would go away with a few days of extra brushing/mouthwash through the day. It actually worked for a couple of weeks, then came back and was a constant, dull pain. Couldnt eat on the right side of my mouth. Keeping cold milk over it for a minute did help ease the pain, dunno if that was purely psychological.

Went to the dentist and got antibiotics to ease the swelling from the decayed tooth. Then the extraction. Not fun.

Main bits i remember is needing extra anaesthetic as it was way too sore at first, sweating profusely throughout and - i didnt notice this until halfway through - i had started humming the hall of the mountain king while they were yanking the tooth out (genuinely didnt notice i was doing it, once i became conscious of it i just rolled with it 😂)

I can understand this. Whenever my body goes into a sort of flight or fight mode I can usually be found humming this :
