the jambo-rocker
What the hell is going on guys? Everything in one basket to direct your contempt at the top brass. With this weirdly heavy going scattergun approach of chucking every single stupid proposal the SFA/SPFL have came out with in the last couple of days. To me it feels like the West Wing equivalent of 'Trash Day' where you chuck everything out there all at once so that the 'smaller' issues get ignored within the bigger stories of the day. I figured it was probably worth putting in a thread where all the eggs can be kept in one basket. Shiting it with 'Strict liability' http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35349978 English U20's, Wales and Northern Ireland, and not the Highland/Lowland league teams in the Challenge Cup http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/228493-challenge-cup-restructure/ Facial Recognition Software and the magical £4 million it would cost to fund it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35356852 U20's NFL draft system http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35368472 League Reconstruction stuff http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/227671-league-reconstruction-lets-hear-your-view/page-1 Flares in games http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35359166 That git Mike Mulraney and the One and only black suit, black shirt and gold/black tie combination he's always seen wearing and probably wears to bed; always speaking on the SPFL board's behalf. The Safe Standing issue and the latest SPFL probe to fans conduct are also others off the top of my head that have been thrown about over the last day or two. Add the collective disdain towards Scottish football's top brass accordingly.

HTG
How would a draft system work in a set up that involves promotion and relegation? It wouldn't. It's a load of shite like almost everything else they come out with. They'd really rather just talk about how many more old firm games they can drill out for tv. Everything - absolutely everything else - matters not one f**k to them.
MEADOWXI
Draft story talks of Premiership clubs providing players for a lower league pot, with a photo of the two players in a game, one is the Green cheek, one is the Blue cheek............. Couldn't the BBC find a photo of two Premiership teams?
BFTD
How about all players being contracted to the SPFL directly, with clubs paying into a central pot for wages and a full draft system being implemented across the four divisions? I can see no objections being made about such a system
the jambo-rocker
Yeah I don't see why this draft needs to happen either. Sure it works well in a place where promotion/relegated isn't a thing, but here it just doesn't seem workable. The NFL draft is from players moving in from College football anyway? Players are getting plenty of opportunities with development loans, meaning that they can play both on loan and for their respective u20's team. If anything, the only thing I'd be looking with regards to the u20's right now is the feasibility of making some kind of promotion/relegation between the east and west development leagues possible. Worktheshaft
Whatever was going round at the last SPFL meeting, I would like some. Then sit and watch dogs with hats on filmed with a wide angled lens.
Bankies Alive
Are they going to force kids to play for clubs even if they dont want to? What an utterly farcical idea.
Jim McLean's Ghost
Are they going to force kids to play for clubs even if they dont want to? What an utterly farcical idea. I don't see how they can force a player to go to a club he doesn't want to. Is there going to be central funding for the players additional expenses? What about the fact most of the lower league clubs are part-time, are the youth players now training only a few days a week?. Would there be guaranteed playing time or would some find themselves not playing any games at all. It is a genuinely bizzare idea

RedLichtie86
Its a fair bet that the big wigs at the SPFL (Cockwomble especially) and various big clubs will propose to accept further league reconstruction only with the addition of Colt teams to the league structure. We will see the likes of Celtic, Sevco, Aberdeen, Hearts etc with Colt teams in the league setup and smaller clubs discarded to the Lowland, Highland leagues. Maybe even the Juniours. To an extent does this not happen in Scottish rugby? I believe that underused players with Glasgow and Edinburgh can be allocated to the national premiership teams. I believe that underused players with Glasgow and Edinburgh can be allocated to the national premiership teams. The Pro12 rugby set-up is markedly different from the pyramid though, very much a closed shop with city/regional franchises. There's not so much a draft system though, signed professionals outwith the first team squad usually have dual contracts to play for Edinburgh/Warriors and a Premiership team (like I think Javan Sebastian plays for Ayr). Dr Koop
Cockwomble is whining about plans for a Champions League format change that could leave his beloved little outfit in the ha'penny seats. Greedy big clubs and supine league/national administrators 'colluding' to run off with lots of lolly. Unheard of on his patch. Still, we can bask in the glow of the big success that's the media deal for Chinese pocket change.
