forever_blue
Yes he did, that is very good remembering of you. The key difference here is that Mulgrew didn't do anything wrong and clearly Halliday did. I'd be in favour of tougher sanctions for simulation though if they were enforced across the board. Fyvie didn't get Halliday sent off, only Halliday did. Oh and the team you pretended to support died while you did nothing. You did nothing to try to save the club you supposedly loved. forever_blue
Didn't Kyle Lafferty get banned under similar circumstances? The incident which led to him forever being known as Kyle Laugherty? Fraser Fyvie hasn't had such a name given to him after his manchild theatrics but he will still forever be known as Fraser Fyvie. I think in hindsight that Kyle got off lightly. It's a bit of a stretch to call Halliday's light tap against Fyvie a "kick". Maybe that's why he wasn't punished. I think the most interesting thing about retrospective red cards for simulation is the fact the player only gets a yellow card when the ref actually see's it during the game. Maybe they should be dishing out red cards?... I don't know. It would certainly put a stop to diving if they did, though.

Simulation, feigning injury to earn a free kick/penalty or just to waste time is one of the most infuriating aspects of the game. It needs hammered and if Fyvie is just the first of many to be brought up and banned, then great I'm all for it. It's not though and it's just one case that has had a load of coverage. Oh and retaliation is retaliation light tap or not. Plenty of examples of people getting sent off for less out there. I think the shoulder barge is a borderline red too and with the kick it's a done deal for me. But only my opinion.
mighty meadow
It's a bit of a stretch to call Halliday's light tap against Fyvie a "kick". Maybe that's why he wasn't punished. The original 'tackle' from behind by Fyvie was the only part of the whole incident which could have led to serious injury. In that respect it has to be said Fyvie got off lightly. A longer ban should have been imposed.
williemillersmoustache
Absolute Pish...Fyvie got Haliday sent off when cheated by pretending to be the victim of a head butt that simply did not happen, the statement on the Fyvie ban made it clear this was what the red card was for, the ref either missed the kick or decided it did not merit anything. Halliday retaliating and kicking Fyvie was the right thing to do? If he'd not reacted, he'd still have been on the park. he got himself sent off. Pipe down tedi. Grown ups are talking. williemillersmoustache
You really are struggling with this Wullie, the statement released by the SFA with regards to Fyvie`s ban made it clear that the red was for the head butt that never happened. The authorities are now in agreement that the head butt never happened, Fyvie conned the ref, the red card being rescinded is proof that it should never have happened....deal with it. The reaction got him sent off, not a mythical headbutt. If he'd kept his cool, he'd have played on, but he didn't . "the authorities" a 3 man panel made this decision not the lodge or the SFA and the SPFL board. Its almost as if you have no understanding of the game and are just a willfully ignorant orc with a huge mouth and a massive chip on his shoulder because he let his club die. williemillersmoustache
His reaction was a headbutt that did not exist, that is what the ref thought, the red card you get for a sending off has now be rescinded...accept it...deal with it.. Aye Wullie, it is all a conspiracy, go make another banner you whining c**t And the kick and the shoulder charge. But I see it's just about calling people c***s now so I'll move on. Myview
Lafferty received a two match ban for the incident. It was the totting up point process that made it three match suspension. Halliday did not kick Fyvie. Halliday was sent off for an alleged head butt! He appealed it and won but was awarded a yellow for his part of the incident. Both Lafferty and Fyvie should be criticised and be totally embarrassed for getting a fellow pro sent off especially when the actions of Mulgrew and Halliday clearly show that they did not head butt and Lafferty and Fyvie knew that at the time. Fyvie is taking stick as Lafferty did and rightly so! Fyvie is maybe not the most popular player within the Hibs squad. It's a big learning curve for him. Monkey Tennis
This decision was inevitable after the announcement about Fyvie's ban. There are anomalies attached to the scale of sanction for an offence spotted at the time and later on, but to be honest I've no real problem with what's been arrived at. Fyvie doesn't deserve a lot of sympathy here. Halliday has maybe got off a little lightly, but he paid a big price on the day and I don't think there's been any great injustice. Nobody would have thought much was amiss had he been booked at the time. The same could be said of Fyvie I suppose but morally, his behaviour was worse. Ira Gaines
Suspensions can be handed out after the fact. So bringing up the shoulder and kick is still relevant as it could have been dealt with after. Personally, I find the suggestion of the shoulder getting anything more than a yellow card pretty hilarious.

An incident can only be looked at later if the the ref said in his report that he didn't see it. If he saw it and dealt with it and it's in his report then it cannot be changed. ( Red not yellow cards of course can be appealed) Monkey Tennis summed it up well by saying if Halliday had been yellow carded at the time, most would have accepted that.
