bob the tank
I heard a news report on the bridge being walked and all the people they spoke to were English. Did the ballot include anybody Scottish?
CityDave
North of the Forth, should we be worried about a large influx of people from Edinburgh coming up here looking for work and somewhere to live?

Not now that the Festival is finished and (most of) the tourists have gone home.

Supposed to be over 90% had Scottish addresses but I walked it earlier and there were loads of English accents.

The M8 and M9 are already linked at Newbridge a few miles down the road from the new bridge. Am I missing something glaringly obvious? On 31/08/2017 at 21:43, Melanius Mullarkey said: People need more links Gaz. Some folk seem to want a direct link from the bridge to Livingston. It's not about links to Livingston, but more efficient links than what's now there. Move the bit of M90 scribbled over in red to the alignment marked in black. That means you don't have conflicting movements creating a bottleneck at the A90/M90, e.g. buses and taxis for the airport coming off the FRB and cars for (parts of) Edinburgh coming off the QC. Of course, if what was said further up about the FRB now basically being fine is true, then ideally you'd adopt not just the above road layout, but also a similar approach as the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire Bridges - from Fife, push traffic onto the relevant bridge for their destination; FRB for north Edinburgh, Leith etc., and QC for the M8, M9 and airport. I live next to Holyrood Park and whenever there's been a garden party at the palace the number of folk driving round still with their official parking pass stuck to the windscreen is unbelievable. Damn thing must obscure half of the driver's view but presumably it's worth it just to show off for a few extra hours...
Trackdaybob
Reduced limit because of 'driver distraction'?? If you're not capable of driving over the new bridge at 70 because you're going to be distracted by the newness, you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

The Master
We now have Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP "calling" (the media's favourite word) for the Forth Road Bridge to re-open to clear the tailbacks on the Queensferry Crossing. He seems to think that it's now gone "beyond" tourist traffic causing the delays. First of all, they're now making a permanent repair to replace the temporary one put in place last year. Second, if it's not tourist traffic where have all these extra cars come from, and where are they going? Both bridges are two lanes and have the same speed limit, so it's not as if it's the same vehicles trying to get through a smaller space, slower.

Speaking to somebody this morning who commutes to Hamilton from Glenrothes every day - he's been held up every journey by 2-3hrs and thinks it's the way the roads merge to access the bridge that's causing the problems. The 40mph limit is exacerbating the problem and there's no way traffic being tailed back to Halbeath on the Fife side at 7.30am on a Monday morning is anything to do with tourists.

Granny Danger
If in turns out that the Queensferry crossing does nothing to ease the congestion I assume all the professionals who planned this will never work again?
