New Forth Road Bridge Closed, old one reopens

Recommended Posts

If this is metal fatigue cracks occurring at key load bearing sections of the Forth Road Bridge, what is the future of the bridge when the new Queensferry Crossing opens next year?

Could the Forth Road Bridge be mothballed?

It could fairly readily be converted to a footbridge.

Took just over two and a half hours to get from Monifieth to South Queensferry. Nothing unusual about that, as I, always, drive in the outside lane at 45mph, when it gets dark.

I heard about two horrendous hold ups, on the radio - Friarton Bridge to Broxden roundabout and approach to Dunblane - total poppycock, as the road was perfectly clear in front of me.

I think that's the plan; pedestrians, cyclists, motorbikes, rickshaws etc. I think they should turn one of the sections into a pitch and putt course or something like that. That would be quite neat.

How do you feel about abseiling?

It wouldn't be my cup of tea, but that would be something to consider. You could stick one of those rock climbing walls to the side of one of the towers so that you could abseil down one side and then climb up the other.

How do you feel about abseiling?

The act of cracking one off the wrist while simultaneously plugging your bottom with a fat handled screwdriver?

Or, the the one wi the ropes?

FRB will really quiet. Just smash through a couple of barriers and go that way. f**k all wrong with that bridge. Drama queens.

It's health and safety gone mad, what's the worst that could happen?

Let's face it, it's not like five years ago when the woman in the north of Scotland went shopping for the Christmas dinner and didn't get home for five weeks due to the snow.
