theoriginalhedge
Ayr United verti-drained their pitch yesterday in preparation of heavy rainfall. FYI ;-) Hope they put their frost covers down as well !!!!! Fuckin lunatic !

Oaft, a bit of forward thinking and no problems, thus far. Don't worry though, in sure a tweet can go out, hours before kick off, requesting Rovers fans to arm themselves with pitchforks :-)

I'm sure the Somerset groundsman took heed of your sound advice last week !!! What are the pitchforks for by the way ? Surely garden forks will be more suitable to spike the pitch ? theoriginalhedge
Both are merely babies compared to the much more advanced verti-drainer. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Given the fact that the East side of the country has normally less than half the average rainfall of the west, it was probably felt that the rainfall last weekend wouldn't have been as savage at it was on Friday night/ Saturday morning. Obviously by then it was too late for our groundsman to take action given his other routine preparations on the Saturday morning.(as he is the sole groundsman) hence the call for assistance. A lesson learnt which the Ayr groundsman obviously picked up on this week ! As it turned out , the pitch was fine albeit a few areas of surface water , which the 4 individuals managed to clear within an hour . Thanks to the 2 Ayr guys who helped by the way.
