Until Covid put the kybosh on my trips to the USA, I came across a beachwear style chain of shops there called Tommy Bahama. About twenty years ago, I bought a Tommy Bahama watch for about the £60 mark, and it is still my daily go-to watch. I now own four of their watches. Indestructible, just keep going and going, looking good and without doubt, the best watches I’ve ever owned.

Not a huge watch connoisseur like most but are Tissot any good? I asked my maw for a Rolex for my Birthday but she's a pensioner and I might be ripping the pish. This one's around £300, not fussed about the inner workings  etc.. But just would like a decent looking watch

That's quite a drop from a Rolex! Tissot are ok, if that's your budget, check out Seiko and G-Shock as well. Steer clear of 'fashion watches' like Armani etc.

Thank you.

I have a Tissot, they are excellent. They are an actual watchmaker, not a fashion brand with cheap rubbish inflated by the badge.

Very nice case, not sure about the strap, don't suppose you could fit a NATO on it could you?

ETA what size is the case?

Very tempted.

You can, quick release spring bars, G-Shock make other straps for it.  Think the case is 44, big size, but the great design makes it look smaller.

I am delighted with it, even better in the daylight...

She said she was pondering over a Breitling, but it was in day-glo orange. So no contest really! 😄

I need to remove links, should I attempt this or take it in?

Not normally a big Tag fan but that is lovely. I’d say for a decent watch like that if you’re not confident then get someone to do it.

i was given a watch making experience for Christmas this year. Seems like a good couple of hours learning a bit about the company, watchmaking and putting together a custom timepiece. It’s never going to rival a Rolex but the sentimental value behind it will mean it’s one that stays in the collection for a long time.

Dundee Derry colours always trump day-glo orange.  Everyone on this forum knows that!

Very nice watch.   Personally I’d leave the experts to take out a link.  I certainly wouldn’t be practicing on your new watch.
