I've only seen them on tv presenters. One week leading up to Remembrance Sunday or Armistice Day is surely enough. I don't know when it became so dragged out although there's definitely much more an element of needing to be seen to be doing something (not just remembrance) these days rather than just quietly doing it.

People were wearing then after 11th November last year on Sky. Bizarre

It's not just about who can remember the hardest, it's also about who can remember the longest.

If you're annoyed at clubs doing one remembrance game a year then you're looking for reasons to be offended. Plenty more crass things to get yourself worked up about.

Falkirk have only got 3 points this season.

Traditionally there's been remembrance services at churches and in the afternoon at the local cenotaph. Buy a poppy and go to one of them and that's you, you've paid your respects (and that's what people who actually fought in the two world wars would have generally expected).
I do wonder how keen a lot of the people who seem to be to make a song and dance about it would be to take an hour on the Sunday afternoon and quietly pay their respects. They'd probably be disappointed in the sombreness and lack of triumphalism - not real remembering.

Should've realised that if you were asking to meet someone on here it was another threat of physical violence.

I never asked to meet you, I asked if you wanted to buy me a drink.

Please try to keep up.  :)

If matches were played on 11th November there may have been a minute's silence, I really can't remember, but there was none of this over the top (no pun intended) in your face MUST REMEMBER when I was a regular attender (1963 -73 in Scotland).

Scotland played England at Hampden on Remembrance weekend in 1999 and there was no minute’s silence or poppies on shirts.

4 world cups though.

Its fucking great here. At 1111 on the 11th of the 11th begins Karnival season. Everyone gets wasted, it's mayhem in a party sense. Definition of "scenes".

A few Lancaster bombers would soon wipe the smiles off their faces,

Good job, your pals are the ones to blame for this shite every year.

Everything would have been fine if the fucking Serbs had just piped down and not gone all shooty shooty at a royal visit.

They always have been, but it was Germany that took it too far as usual. Have a word with them!
