Should Strachan Go?

We'd be mad to change it now with the WC qualifying group we have. We actually had some forward momentum for the first time in ages but the unimaginative knee jerkers want rid of Strachan.

So failing to qualify yet again for a major tournament is forward momentum?

I agree to an extent, we had forward momentum, but blew it spectacularly against cannon fodder Georgia, the signs were there well before that. We have to regroup & move on, hopefully with a few new names in the squad.

Yes, on the last 2 qualify attempts we have move forward, not a lot, but yes.

Who would you have in?

I would like to say yea get rid of Strachan McGhee and McCall but who do we get ?

I would love to take a risk here get someone with real hunger someone with the guts to say to some players you are not good enough so on your bike son

Question is do we have anyone like that ?

Strachan should definitely go.

He's failed, ultimately pretty miserably.

We should have learnt lessons. Twice in recent times, we've stuck with someone who'd failed badly already and given them the start of the next tournament. Twice, they've done enough damage in the first three or four games to ensure their successor can't repair it.

Whoever comes in needs a run at the next campaign from the outset.

Despite all the bluster, Strachan has been a flop.

Forget the next one or two qualification campaigns, just concentrate on getting a consistent group of young/youngish players together who can do the basics and actually give a toss about representing their country. Who cares if they get trounced the first few times? We seem to be terrified of doing anything that doesn't produce immediate success and risks an embarrassment.

I'm edging towards yes.

Our squad is at least as good as the squad Martin O'Neill is working with, probably stronger overall. The fact Ireland can still qualify automatically, while we are out with a game to spare tells me that Strachan, for all he has taken us forward, isn't good enough.

Get Jackie Macnamara or Jimmy Calderwood in.

And what makes you think they'll stop calling up the duds that have failed so miserably time and time again?

A new manager from outside Scotland is what's needed. Someone who won't call up players "because they always have been" and is prepared to tell the press to f**k off if he's criticised for taking that approach.

Someone who fits that profile could be out of a job soon.

OK, perhaps a bit far-fetched. But someone in his mould.

He should definitely go. He's not a good manager and the team's performances have regressed steadily since an admittedly impressive start.

That said, we've got one of the most generous World Cup qualifying groups in recent memory, in which England will most likely win every single game, and we really should be finishing second.

Strachan's reputation has taken a hammering this campaign - our group is one of the easier groups we've had, although not a patch on the Welsh and Northern Irish groups, granted - but if he's prepared to be a little less stubborn we'll finish second.

Having seen us in Georgia, I am not confident that we will win in Lithuania, Slovakia or Slovenia.

we've got one of the most generous World Cup qualifying groups in recent memory,

you must have a very recent memory indeed

Which of our players would be in the Poland side ? None most would say.

Very few would make the Ireland team.

Georgia would be pretty picky about who they would have out of our bunch.

He has to go, fourth place in that group is an embarrassment. The SFA need to look beyond their Largs clique for the next appointment.

Who at the SFA would be in charge of appointing the next manager?

Can't argue with that. The only problem is who to appoint and which people will be making the decision of who to appoint. Also, there are only so many players to pick from.
