lichtie23
Any reason Andy isn’t playing?
peasy23
Any reason Andy isn’t playing? Think Smith is being realistic enough to realise that he can't flog Andy by playing him every day, and that he is confident that the doubles can win their games, so only needs one win from singles. Evans wins the third set tiebreak to put GB into the semis with a 2-0 win over Germany. Edit: it's either Spain or Argentina in the semi final, they are tied at 1-1 after the singles with the deciding doubles match due to start soon.
peasy23
1 set all in the doubles between Spain and Argentina.
cameron2000
Surely has to play Edmund 1 and Murray 2? There’s little chance of either Edmund or Evans beating Nadal but Edmund could if he red lined unbelievably - Evans simply doesn’t have the fire power to produce a 1-off performance like that.
The-coo-shed
Don't think we'll see Andy at all unless either Edmund or Evans has a niggle after yesterday
welshbairn
Noticed they haven't said who's playing who yet. Do they draw lots for who has to name their team first? If Britain gets second go they could put their worst player against Nadal.

He would have given Nadal more problems than Evans. At the very least, he could have made Nadal more tired for tonight's doubles.

He did have an elbow injury at the European Open, so it could be that still bothering him.

Andy would have watched his diet throughout his return from injury, especially with the Davis Cup coming up. As you say, there has has to be more to it than that.

TheScarf
Just watched it. A really fascinating insight into what he's been through the past 2 years. Lesser men would've called it a day 12 months ago but he has like 'nah f**k off, I'll get a metal hip and start cigaring my way to titles again'. Lovely stuff.
die hard doonhamer
Watched it yesterday as well. I think the majority would have called it quits last year, he's just a different animal though.
