Do you watch an orchestra and wonder what the guy at the front waving the stick is doing?

He's from Fife. He'd be getting ready to throw it at passing aeroplanes.

(low hanging fruit, sorry)

Is that Robertson a genuine world class player now?

Itll still depend on your take on that word.

I cant think of a left back who's performed so well, in all competitions, over the past two seasons though.

Alba/Marcelo/Sandro probably all better players, but have had stinking spells.

It's just a yes

He is world-class

Off course he's world class. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete moron.

How come he’s World Class and Paul Lambert isn’t regarded as such despite winning the Champions League?

Do we need to wait a few years, see if anyone remembers him, and then decide he was World Class? Does it go against him that he doesn’t have a catchy name like Batistuta or Valderamma?

See Gazzetta Football Italia thread for details.

Not sure Lambert was in top 3 for his position ever. Robertson is certainly top 3 left back in world. If not top 1. Certainly world class

Djimi Traoré has won the Champions League, and without wanting to slag the man off too much, it would be a push to say he was World Class.

Lambert marked Zidane out of that final

At that time he was a world class DM

As Darren Fletcher also became for a couple of seasons a few years later

Yes, and nobody would really argue that the likes of Joel Matip, Georginio Wijnaldum or even Jordan Henderson from the current Liverpool team are world class - they are all just very good players who were in the right place at the right time. However, Robertson is one of the most important players in this Liverpool team and is clearly one of the best in his position in the world.

Man of the match in the final. Not a flashy player but showed he could absolutely hang and excel at the elite level. Just wasn't there for long.

I don’t think Lambert was ever world class, or even close to it to be honest. Dortmund at the time put him in a role that he was very effective in. Yes, he had an outstanding game in that final and completed stifled Zidane, but that one outstanding performance is hardly a case for saying he was world class. He definitely wasn’t.

Did you see many of his games for Dortmund?

Can't think of anyone better than Robertson at LB right now in the world, so that should make him World Class.

Cue Septic fans calling in to claim Tierney is better...
