tellyboy
In the East we have received our fixtures right up to Sept 19th and been informed that the 26th will be Scottish Cup 1st Round and fill in games for those with byes. Is there any word when the draw is being made as would help clubs to plan ahead a bit further?

Is there any word when the draw is being made as would help clubs to plan ahead a bit further? That's also Scottish Cup R1 so some ties will be delayed, as well. EDIT: Actually, do only champions get Junior Cup byes or Linlithgow/BoD/Girvan too? Junior Cup dates here: http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/sjfa/scottish_fa_news.cfm?page=1747&newsCategoryID=28&newsID=15053 Junior Cup R2 also the same day as Scottish Cup R2. mick90
Last season the first round was drawn the last Tuesday in August ... so Tue 25th this time ... Dates have been fairly consistent, despite returning to the `old` mid-winter, nearly all games off, schedule. Following draw dates would therefore be rd 2 draw - Sun Oct 4 ( in a decent social club .. not Medda) rd 3 draw - Tue Nov 3 ( in a cupboard at the Ev Times) rd 4 draw - Tue Dec 1 ( in a cupboard at the Sun) rd 5 draw - Wed Feb 3 ( on Peter and Roughie ..) rd 6 draw - Fri Feb 26 ( at Hampden ... there`s a change) semi draw - Fri Mar 25 ( On live TV .. from the Camp Nou ..) superbigal
It will be taking them a good few weeks to work out how many teams need a bye, and how many 1st round ties, to still end up with 127 teams
Deanburn Dave
Last years constitution says that Junior clubs that have QUALIFIED for the Senior Scottish get byes. Unless that changes to PARTICIPATING I think Lithgae Rose etc will be in the Juniors round 1 hat.
Wile E Coyote
Girvan have got a bye as well in recent years.

Unless that changes to PARTICIPATING I think Lithgae Rose etc will be in the Juniors round 1 hat. We got a bye last year. We've qualified on the basis of having an entry level licence. That's the same as qualifying through any other route. I think we should be in the Junior Cup first round draw - we already have the advantage of not being in the Scottish Cup preliminary round draw. But beggars can't be choosers
HTG
Erm, it really isn't Are we in the competition? If so, why? Because we qualify for entry. Spartans qualify for entry. Fraserburgh qualify for entry. Kelty qualify for entry. You can nit pick about it but they all qualify. Everyone who is in the competition qualifies. Everyone who isn't doesn't. HTG
Qualifying by buying a licence and not playing football clearly isn't the same as qualifying by winning a league or cup which earns you the opportunity to compete. But nobody said it was the same. There are dozens and dozens of eligible clubs in the competition and very few qualify by winning something else. They all qualify by meeting the entry criteria - either you have a licence and are qualified or you seek another route. I don't think we should get a bye but it could look somewhat petty to be seen to be discriminating against clubs who put the work in to meet the aspirations of the game's governing body. HTG
Erm... Lol - nailed! In the interests of clarification, the original statement was made in the process of dealing with the semantics of "qualify" v "participate". Otherwise, I stand by every (well most) words! Troon Portland
The draw is being made on Thursday 27th August at 6.30pm at Hampden. Saw it on Twitter earlier. www.troonfc.com/
HibeeJibee
In the Scottish Cup itself most of the teams enter automatically as members of the SFA... up to a further 7 clubs can then qualify by winning an eligible competition (4 Junior leagues/cups, 2 Senior leagues, 1 Amateur cup). Girvan have neither a licence nor qualify. They just keep up their longstanding membership. Unless the wording was changed this summer then evidently "qualify for" in the Junior Cup rules means "are playing in" and all 6 will get R1 byes.
