A council election in the most pro SNP ward of the country's most pro SNP constituency (John McNally got the highest personal vote of any SNP politician ever, and the 3rd biggest majority in the entire UK)

Wouldn't surprise me if the SNP hit 75-80% of the vote in this by-election

COUNCIL election candidate has been suspended by the Labour party – just two days before the vote.

Andy Bell, 30, is standing in the Denny and Banknock by-election tomorrow, but was last night exiled over sectarian posts on Facebook.

Dad-of-two Bell, of Larbert, Falkirk, sparked outrage by joking about child abuse, and publishing anti-Catholic bile too disgusting to repeat in a newspaper.

Don't know if this should be in here or the blue/green bigot forum.

There is absolutely no chance he's only 30. Unless he's a distant relative of Charlie Adam.

Horrendous comments, but good timing for labour really. They will likely be decimated in that ward, so at least they've got this clown's suspension as a go-to excuse.

I'm not giving the Record the click traffic.

What's all this about now?

Same here. Here it is the local paper though. He looks like a brainy cnut mind. Like the Larbert Noam Chomsky.

Andy Bell too? He's fallen somewhat since his Erasure glory days.

Dad of two though...... :unsure2:

Christ, what was sectarian enough not to be published in the Record?!

Kirk Broadfoot's record ban?

Anyway, I'm not judging the guy's appearance. Who the f**k knows what he's been through if he comes from an armpit like Denny. Still, remember than it wasn't that long ago that he'd have gotten 60% of the vote in an election like this if he stood as a Labour candidate.

Definitely not the best way to try to win votes in Banknock. Think it says something about Labour's malaise that the candidate is unemployed, 30 years old and from Larbert. People with careers that are going places no longer see a Labour party involvement as being of benefit to them. Thirty years ago the selection process for something like this would have been fiercely contested by people that actually live in the ward in question.

The Wishaw result was probably worse for Labour.

Jack McConnell and Frank Roy country.

How a political party could get it so wrong so quickly.

And then you look at Labour Hame and such like and think, crikey they don't get it.
