HibeeJibee
I see the draw for the premier competition in Senior non-league football has been made. http://eosfl.com/col.asp?cid=56 http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-october/ http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-november/ (NewcastleBroon may wish to skip this paragraph in fear of spontaneously exploding). In contrast with a handful of debutants last season there is only one this season, Cumbernauld Colts, and strangely they have been put into the North/East part of the draw. So there are 10 Lowland and 24 clubs overall in that 'half', and 5 Lowland and 20 overall in the South/West half. No entry from Easthouses Lily of course who have gone Junior. As draws go it isn't a very interesting one but a few points of interest. Wigtown v Threave pits the SOSL champion against the LL wooden spoonists. If LTHV beat Hawick the EOSL & LL champions meet. There could also be a LL universities derby, and Edusport v Dalbeattie has some intrigue. The South Challenge Cup, First Round North & East Zone Vale of Leithen v Tynecastle Burntisland Shipyard v Selkirk Gala Fairydean Rovers v Heriot-Watt University Hawick Royal Albert v Lothian Thistle HV Coldstream v Ormiston Eyemouth United v Edinburgh University Duns v Craigroyston Peebles Rovers v Spartans The South Challenge Cup, First Round South & West Zone St Cuthbert Wanderers v Fleet Star Wigtown & Bladnoch v Threave Rovers Mid Annandale v Gretna 2008 Glasgow University v Abbey Vale The South Challenge Cup, Second Round North & East Zone Preston Athletic v Coldstream / Ormiston Whitehill Welfare v Duns / Craigroyston Burntisland Shipyard / Selkirk v Civil Service Strollers Cumbernauld Colts v Leith Athletic Vale of Leithen / Tynecastle v Kelso United Hawick Royal Albert / Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Edinburgh City Peebles Rovers / Spartans v Gala Fairydean Rovers / Heriot-Watt University Eyemouth United / Edinburgh University v University of Stirling The South Challenge Cup, Second Round South & West Zone East Kilbride v Creetown Heston Rovers v Crichton Glasgow University / Abbey Vale v Mid Annandale / Gretna 2008 Wigtown & Bladnoch / Threave Rovers v St Cuthbert Wanderers / Fleet Star Lochar Thistle v Nithsdale Wanderers Upper Annandale v BSC Glasgow Edusport Academy v Dalbeattie Star Newton Stewart v Dumfries YMCA Dates, from LL fixturelist: http://slfl.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/The-Scottish-Lowland-Football-League-Season-2015-16-Fixture-List.pdf First Rounds - Saturday 17th October Second Rounds - Saturday 14th November Third Rounds - Saturday 13th February First All-In Round - Saturday 5th March Semi-Finals - Saturday 2nd April Final - Sunday 22nd May
tamthebam
I'd love another trip to picturesque Albert Park but I've a feeling we'll be playing at non-picturesque Saughton Enclosure in a mudbath against a determined Lothian team...

HibeeJibee
Not any more, in terms of the football club at least - they now play at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie. Narrowly avoided relegation from the Caledonian Amateurs Premier last season. Finished 2nd in tier 2 of the Scottish unis league (i.e. 7th best Scottish uni). Recent results below. You'd expect them to beat Abbey Vale then lose to Gretna. 2010-11 Scottish Cup - beat Burntisland 1-0, lost to Beith 8-1 South Challenge Cup - beat Fleet Star 3-1, beat Wigtown 1-0, lost to Spartans 3-2 2011-12 Scottish Cup - lost to Cove 4-0 South Challenge Cup - beat Newton Stewart 1-0, beat LTHV 2-1 aet, lost to Stirling Uni 3-1 2012-13 Scottish Cup - lost to Selkirk 2-0 South Challenge Cup - beat Nithsdale 5-4, lost to Threave 3-1 2013-14 Scottish Cup - lost to Gala 3-1 South Challenge Cup - lost to East Kilbride 1-0 2014-15 Scottish Cup - lost to Cove 6-0 South Challenge Cup - drew with Fleet Star 0-0 aet (3-4p), lost 3-1 to Edusport

HibeeJibee
Underway today (and last night). Mostly a procession for the Lowland clubs, but Selkirk struggled against Burntisland after being delayed in traffic, and Gala went out against recent bogey team Heriot-Watt University, losing 4-3p after 2-2. The South Challenge Cup, First Round North & East Zone Vale of Leithen v Tynecastle Burntisland Shipyard 4-5 Selkirk Gala Fairydean Rovers 2-2 Heriot-Watt University (aet, 3-4p) Hawick Royal Albert 1-5 Lothian Thistle HV Coldstream 2-3 Ormiston Eyemouth United 1-7 Edinburgh University Duns 4-1 Craigroyston Peebles Rovers 0-2 Spartans The South Challenge Cup, First Round South & West Zone St Cuthbert Wanderers 4-1 Fleet Star Wigtown & Bladnoch 2-4 Threave Rovers (Friday) Mid Annandale 2-4 Gretna 2008 (Friday) Glasgow University 4-0 Abbey Vale This makes next month's ties as follows: The South Challenge Cup, First Round North & East Zone Vale of Leithen v Tynecastle The South Challenge Cup, Second Round North & East Zone Preston Athletic v Ormiston Whitehill Welfare v Duns Selkirk v Civil Service Strollers Cumbernauld Colts v Leith Athletic Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Edinburgh City Spartans v Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh University v University of Stirling The South Challenge Cup, Second Round South & West Zone East Kilbride v Creetown Heston Rovers v Crichton Glasgow University v Gretna 2008 Threave Rovers v St Cuthbert Wanderers Lochar Thistle v Nithsdale Wanderers Upper Annandale v BSC Glasgow Edusport Academy v Dalbeattie Star Newton Stewart v Dumfries YMCA

HibeeJibee
Well spotted NB. Have you played Duns before? Few interesting ties. Edusport v Dalbeattie and Threave v St Cuthbert could both be close, the clash of champions too as LTHV host Edinburgh City. Intrigue of the university derby as well. Cicero
Gretna (old or new) have never played Glasgow Uni. I always look forward to visiting new grounds. However this won't be a new ground to me as I already been there watching the old Gretna play Airdrie.
HibeeJibee
When will it roughly be played?? Forgive me i am just trying to plan ahead with work and wife commitments etc. Ties are on Saturday 14th November according to league websites - though the Cumbernauld-Leith, Glasgow Uni-Gretna and Edusport-Dalbeattie ties are shown as Friday 13th November. http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-november/ Might get some decent crowds as it's an international break (so no EPL or Scottish Premiership) but possibly no Scotland game. Interestingly as many as 13 LL clubs could make the last 16.

Meadowbank scored the only goal of a win there after 3 minutes once and spent the rest of the game defending like hell. The ever lovely Section B boys were almost climbing the wire fence between us and them to get us by the end of the match! I've seen Glasgow Uni at Westerlands (Spartans beat them in the Scottish Cup back in 1995) and at Garscube (another Scottish Cup tie- think they played Fort Billy)
HibeeJibee
They still seem to play their university league games at Garscube 3G but their Caledonian AFL, Scottish & South Challenge cup games are at Airdrie.
