Growl3th
The better half and I are thinking about heading west and doing a tour of the museums in Glasgow. Does anyone have any advice? Are there organised tours?
peasy23
There are in some I'm sure, Kelvingrove definitely does free guided tours.
Ya Bezzer!
GMRC can only be visited by booking a tour. Not been there yet but probably do it at some point.
BuddieInDundee
The new museum of transport is pretty good, free as far as I can remember.
eddiemunster
The Hunterian Museum & Gallery at the University are also worth a wee visit when you're in that area.
Marshmallo
The Transport museum is good, should last a couple of hours. The Science Centre is more aimed at kids so I'd avoid that if it's just you and the Mrs.
Bold Rover
All of the above plus the Burrell Collection at Pollok Park. And the People's Palace at Glasgow Green.
RoversMad
There is an old football stadium in Glasgow that was once home to a famous, all conquering club... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathkin_Park
Mr Rational
Yep, Hampden experience is actually decent. It even has a picture of the pie hut at old Bayview which brought back happy memories....
18May1991
Transport museum is excellent and free, as is the tall ship berthed right behind it. Kelvingrove Art Gallery is also very good and free. Science museum is really for kids but the imax cinema beside it is well worth a visit.
Growl3th
Thanks guys. Went yesterday and took the city tour bus. Only managed 3 of our list. St Mungo's (which was great), The Peoples Palace (again excellent) and the Riverside Museum (was good but we couldn't do justice to as it closed at 5!!!!). Will have to come back and do the rest.
