Films that deserve a remake

There are lots of films being remade which don't deserve to be. Point Break is a good example. But how about films which really could do with a remake?

I'd say Logan's Run. It is a great premise and an enjoyable film but IMO it was just too far ahead of it's time and suffers very badly from set and design flaws. The acting is atrocious in parts too.

Any others?

there's enough bloody remakes as it is.

Agreed. But that's because they are remaking the ones that don't deserve or need it. Westworld is another example of a deserving one. Excellent film which is let down by the limitations in robotics/cgi at the time.

The Running Man. Arnie's version is great daft fun, but very different from the original book. They'd need to come up with a different ending though.

Our hero flies a passenger jet into the tower HQ of the TV company.

Edit: Also, The Exorcist 3. Not so much a remake, but a recut. It's one of my favourite films, but Morgan Creek didn't understand what they had, and ordered that new scenes be shot after William Peter Blatty (author of the original book, Legion) handed the footage in. Sadly, they now claim that Blatty's original footage is lost, so there'll be no 'Director's Cut' edition.

There's no exorcism in the original book; the demonic killings just stop without proper explanation. The book's more about Detective Kinderman struggling to process the concept of God alongside everything he's seen in his professional life.

World War Z.

Would love to see it closer to the book , even if its over a couple of films.

The Battle Of Yonkers and the Chinese submarine stories would be epic on big screen.

Movie 1 : spread of the plague and rise of the zombies. Ending with Battle of Yonkers

Movie 2 : the Offensive.

ETA : with slow moving zombie mega-swarms

The Clint Eastwood film with the orangutan. Not enough light hearted films with apes these days.

Right turn, Clyde. Might be good minus the annoying no talent blonde chick Clint was enamoured by at the time. Personally, I would like to see a remake of Trainspotting that sticks a lot closer to the book in terms of the plot and lingo.
