Top article in the BBC Gossip column today:

”Rangers are being linked with a move to sign Juventus’ Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsay” (The Sun)

Aaron Ramsay currently earns £400,000 a week, and has spent the transfer window thus far knocking back moves to half the clubs in the English Premier League.

Others saying he's on a mere £146,000 a week, so with Juventus chipping in it could be closer to the realms of possibility.

There is surely no chance someone like Aaron Ramsey is on £400k a week. I can't see how they would possibly have had to offer him that much.

If that's been reported then it might have been the theoretical maximum if he'd played every game and picked up every performance bonus available instead of playing less than two hours of football all season for a lucklustre Juve

In isolation? Sure. However the world does not work in isolation. The Simpson/Durrant incident is very (very) well known as an extremely emotive flash point and to use it as a headline is reckless.

What's more the Daily Record knows this, it's intentionally trying to raise the heat in order to create clickbait and "anger porn", two sources of fuel for their revenue.

The fact that the image of Glass shows him apparently in mid-karate kick on Richard Gough is a particular added bonus from the Daily Rangers there.

They didn't have to offer him it but he was a free transfer so they didn't have to pay a €30 or 40 million transfer fee, and in those situations agents will often negotiate higher wages than they'd normally be able to command. It's not outwith the realms of possibility that Arsenal were offering around £100,000 to £200,000 a week to re-sign.

The transfer is being widely reported now, and Fabrizio Romano is regarded as a pretty reputable source in Italy so fair play there must be something in it.

So, through extremely gritted teeth, apologies for putting this in this thread to the Su… to the Ssss… to the SunnnNoooo!!!!

No.

I just can’t do it.

edit to add

Just checked out what was being reported about this transfer in Italy. Fair to say Juve fans won’t exactly miss him…

So..... are we all enjoying the Seville Calculator being used in regard to the price tag of the new Rangers' loan player?

£19m, £37m, it just keeps on rising...

I think that deal was £18million initially going up to about £40million through loads of add ons which obviously haven’t been triggered yet and may never be.

I’ve assumed the sources close to Man Utd have gone with the lower fee to make it seem like less of a f**k up on their part whilst the sources sympathetic to Rangers (ie every one in Scotland) have gone big to make it seem like a coup for them.

The highlight of his career will always be injuring himself trying to act the hardman against Celtic

It was pretty good when he stuck a winner in against the blue bigots after he had signed a pre contract with them.

Ramsey was on £141k p/w at Juve but in Italy they have a law that allows footballers bought from abroad to pay less tax than those bought from other domestic clubs. So he took home €7m per annum from a gross salary of €9.17m.

The van Bronckhorst version of Rangers is better than the Gerrard variety.

That’s why I can see them negotiating the rest of the season without losing another league game...
