Maybe Dundee could add a suffix to their name to make it easier to distinguish them from Dundee United?

Either Dundee Harp or Dundee Hibernian would be a nod to historic football teams from the city or, if they wanted something that was more representative of their recent history, Dundee InAdministration would be apt.

Dundee Nil

Considering Dundee were first it’s United that should change really. Doesn’t make sense as a name anyway, considering they weren’t formed as a combination of clubs and had another major club already there. Imagine Cove rebranding to Aberdeen United emoji23.png.

Don’t let that get in the way of a good troll though.

Makes perfect sense if you know the history. They changed the name as although they were called Dundee Hibernian, they were not a catholic club or just for the Irish Immigrants, but they wanted a name to show this and remove the misunderstanding the original name gave. First choice Dundee City was objected to by Dundee so United was chosen. United perfectly shows the clubs aims.

A pretty tinpot preview article on the BBC, playing into stereotypes

That is an absolutely horrendous piece.  "Nick McPheat" (?!!) forgot to add a bit about the coverage, too.  I'd suggest something like this:

BBC Coverage

In keeping with the tinpot chaos of Scottish football, our coverage is both tinpot and chaotic.  Your nan could do a better job on OOM than Chick, Biscuits and the rest of the old boys' club.  When will we notice that Dundee United not Dundee are playing Aberdeen on Sunday?  Stay tuned to find out!

They did a similarly shite article last season aimed at English viewers when the PL was stopped.

Basically the old firm is serious business and the rest is just a quirky laugh.

I knew that but still think United doesn’t make much sense compared to Rovers or Thistle etc.

Dundee would actually make more sense as Dundee United as they were formed by the merging of 2 clubs.

David Currie had a field day on last night’s Sportsound. Discussing the Aberdeen match, he said that Joe Lewis should have got a red card even though he clearly went for the ball, he insisted twice that Ryan Hedges was the player fouled for the Hacken red card until corrected by Richard Foster, in his interview with Stephen Glass he said that Calvin Ramsay was 18 (17 at time of interview) and then said that Ramsay could celebrate his birthday at the weekend (he got that right) by getting his SPFL debut, Glass corrected him on that one.

Well, after many attempts, they finally got there. Well done BBC. Well done.

At least they did what they said. Quite sad really that the Scottish section of BBC Sport have to be told repeatedly to get basics correct.

Does this count?

To be fair, it's not the first, and certainly not the last, media outlet to get utterly confused as to what our stadium is called. I still occasionally hear (admittedly non-Scottish) commentators refer to it as Love Street. It not been at that location for nearly 20 years!

For those who don't know, we changed the name of the stadium in November last year.
