The bbc sport headline for hibs v Hamilton today begins ‘hibs stay third...’

This would have been the case whatever happened today.

It's almost like the reporting on any team aside from the cheeks is a distraction and likely done on the toilet, or in a massive rush.  Or both.

..but some of the things that Lennon and his teams achieved will be talked about when none of us are alive to hear the conversations.

Quite funny that Tom talks about 'unfair revisionism' there. There certainly is a lot of that going on here, but not how he thinks.

That seems about right tbf.

For some, with a full grasp of the epic scale of his time at the club as player and manager, it will be almost immediate. For others, angry and bitter that he didn't leave earlier in a bid to save their precious 10, it may take a while

The most remarkable aspect of Lennon’s second spell is how quickly he was able to turn a seemingly unassailable lead over Rangers into a significant deficit, especially given the financial advantages Celtic have enjoyed during that time. Credit to him, not many people would have thought that possible when he took over.

"...the process of restoring him to beloved character status will surely begin.

I somehow doubt it, they are a fan base which still greets about Bobby Davidson "cheating" them out of the 1970 Scottish Cup, so blowing the ten will still be talked about in 100 years, never mind 50.

From the BBC Website "Scottish Gossip"

Semi finals in football are contented by 4 teams. Yet according to the Record the seventh most likely team to reach that stage is a serious contender to win the tournament.  That "supercomputer" (!) calculation does make them serious contenders to make the quarters however.

I saw that this morning; the BBC have lifted the DR headline intact it seems. Schoolboy error.

Fans vote in favour of scrapping tournament in BBC Sport poll

I thought this was a badly designed poll by the BBC. It says fans have voted in favour of scrapping the cup but that option managed 38% of the vote which is hardly a resounding win. The vote to continue the tournament is divided three ways so you could phrase it as 62% of fans want the cup to continue in some shape or form. I'd have had a simple "Should this seasons Scottish Cup be cancelled" with Yes/No as the only options and then a second poll of "If the Cup was to continue how could it be formatted/scheduled?"

Does every manager who's  had his own team's fans calling for his sacking for months get this sort of gasping eulogy?

It really is an absurd piece.

Lennon was a poor manager for Celtic - it's not really up for debate.  Before Rangers died, he lost out to them, and the second the new incarnation stopped being pish, he lost out to it too.

He was an effective player in a strong team.  As a manager, he's been a flop.  He obviously came in for dreadful treatment from some morons in his career, but that's offset (though not justified) by quite what a ghastly wee turd he often behaved like.

It's downright silly to pretend there's anything special about his talents.
