The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

Recommended Posts

Also, credit where credit is due. Amy MacDonald and Tom English got into a Twitter spat about this. MacDonald defending the players and English ripping her a new one to the point that the loudmouth has deleted all her tweets that had been replies to English.

Fair play.

Spiers for all his faults, normally comes across an intelligent bloke. That is a monumentally stupid take on the situation though.

You've obviously not followed him on Twitter. Him and Jim Spence have been perhaps the worst hit in terms of social media exposing them for the absolute clowns that they are.

I'm only aware of Spence's Twitter presence due to CGT's fine work.

This is journalism at its best. This is the BBC as we need it. Searching investigation, balanced and in-depth analysis & no plagiarism.

Striker Lyle Taylor, the 30-year-old who is a free agent after leaving Charlton Athletic, is in talks with Celtic as well as Steven Fletcher, who has left Sheffield Wednesday. (Sky Sports)

Celtic have no interest in signing former Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor and, having had a £5m offer for Ivan Toney rejected by Peterborough United

It's also not true that he didn't feature in the first team again. He came on as a sub against Partick Thistle in the cup in January of this year.

"Celtic remain in talks with West Ham striker Albian Ajeti and former Scotland forward Steven Fletcher, says manager Neil Lennon."

Noticed that this morning too. How hard would it have been to say "However Celtic reportedly have no interest..."

It comes from the "gossip" page, and while I think is a complete waste of everyone's time, I would say that the "reportedly" is implied by the fact that they're reporting news stories from other sources.

It's unfair to snark at the BBC's press roundup column for either 'plagiarism' - all the sources are credited and the BBC isn't taking credit  for them - or reporting that other press outlets are putting out contradictory stories.
