The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

The BBC pre-season predictor type thing had expected line ups for each side. Apparently Phil Roberts will be first choice for Dundee, Szromnik for United, some guy called Chamorro for Hamilton, McCulloch for Killie, Twardzik for Motherwell, Holden for County and Lappin for us.

Some are more realistic than others, but some are just utterly moronic.

No (captain) Abdul Osman for us either. Saw predicted lineups in a couple of papers with him excluded as well.

I be never seen these predicted line ups from the BBC. Could someone provide a link please?

Presumably Richard Wilson's preview.

If he's got some predicted line-ups wrong, should be noted it was one guy trying to predict 12 teams, rather than the whole of the BBC sport department doing it.

Daily Record so desperate to crowbar a Rangers reference in to the round up of Cup games they get things spectacularly wrong. Didn't realise Marvin Andrews was now a white goalkeeper playing for Cowdenbeath...

That's before the extra goal given to the Blue Brazil.

It should also be noted that this is his job (although my experience of his work on Sportsound is that if it doesn't concern Rangers then he's hopeless). Dreadful starting XIs aside, his "Strengths" and "Weaknesses" bit is laughable.

Hamilton's main strength is the concept of "Belief". Ross County's main weakness is "the squad is light in numbers" (it's a 21 man squad, with cover for every position).
