This shambles from the BBC, particularly the Killie and Rangers parts next to each other. Killie get panned for their record against the top 6 with a weird graph, then Rangers get reported as having a chance to "flex their muscles" after the split. The metric used for Killie is % of points won against the rest of the top 6 - 1) they have less games to win points against the top 6 by virtue of being in it and 2) their %age is higher than Rangers.

Killie won exactly as many points against the other Top 6 sides as Aberdeen and Hearts did.

Obviously we won more against the bottom six sides given that they are substantially worse sides (which is why they ended up in the bottom six).

I stopped reading after this nonsensical crap.

It's not about the decisions though, is it? It's about the effect it has on the game as a whole and indeed the narrative around it.

Nobody is talking about a brilliant game of football, and all the fans in the stadium are left in the dark while some distant faceless individual behind a TV screen makes the call.

And that latter part would be worse in Scottish football, given that most clubs don't have scoreboards, let alone TV screens in the stadium.

Here’s his face.

And he doesn’t make the call, the match referee is completely at liberty to ignore him.

Of course, he’d be pretty daft to do so on a binary decision like an offside, but on penalties etc he looks himself

Another journalist completely failing to address the fact that Bowie has stated this is partly a response to concerns from Kilmarnock fans regarding the atmosphere/intimidation created by these travelling fans.

When are folk going to talk about the whole picture here? Bowie is well aware that his decision has financial potential implications, he himself has openly addressed that, yet its all the jounos want to talk about.

I think and hope other teams will stand with Killie, especially if the **** reject their ticket allocation. Rangers cant do that to all 11 teams. For once, stand up to them.

Narrative.

Fans in the dark.

Those same fans who, of course, will give referees absolute dogs abuse, and then when the idea of those referees getting help comes up, they ridicule it. f**k em. Keep the fucking morons in the dark and let them simmer.

Referees badly need help. Anything that does that, I'm happy with it.

He's faceless to the people in the stadium. They can see the referee, they know what he's doing.

Nobody would be talking about the football either if there wasn't VAR and an offside goal had allowed Man City to progress (see also: Swansea in the FA Cup). And the fans are hardly left in the dark given there's big screens telling them and an announcement is made.

Absolutely zero surprise to see a huge upturn in stuff like this and the 'look how many folk watch Celtic and Rangers' piece after Stefan Bienkowski got himself a job at BBC Scotland.

A man who uses stats to cover up his chronic lack of Scottish football knowledge.
