The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

Recommended Posts

Headline BBC website story about how soon Celtic can win the league. Starts off by saying that if Celtic win both pre split matches, it will be settled if Rangers fail to win either of their two matches. Then rightly, in almost the next sentence, they say that if Celtic win their two matches they would have 79 points, and Rangers would need a win and a draw to delay the inevitable.

There's no way there's a person out there called "Eammon" spelled like that surely?

Shoddy journalism even in the internal notes, clearly.

“Missiles mar derby

The first of the smoke bombs, bellowing maroon, was thrown even before a ball had been kicked, the opening gambit in the battle of a minority of yobs in the Hearts and Hibs support.”

From the Daily Record

Quote

Kick-off at Tynecastle was delayed while a smoke bomb was cleared from the pitch and each goal brought more pyrotechnics to the field.

The coconut will cause more concern given the damage it could cause if it struck a player or fan.

I would rather take my chances with a coconut.

Are pyrotechnics friendly fire?

The press are fucking milking this coconut thing.  Although there's been some cracking takes on it so far.

They won't be happy until someone gets desiccated.
