GDP per head ia what's really important, Britain may even be lower than that now, it's miles behind Ireland. GDP is not a measure of how rich Ireland is. It is distorted by the American companies that are based there but have very little activity taking place in country. Almost all economist discount Ireland's GDP and even the Irish Central Bank have devised an alternative measure to better reflect the true Irish econony. As an example, Apple implementing the "double Irish" in 2015 sent Irish GDP per capita soaring by over 20% without any true economic activity in the country.

DrewDon
It is rather telling about the state of Scottish Labour, and much of Scottish politics, that McDonnell is being pilloried for eminently sensible, reasonable comments that at least demonstrate the most rudimentary awareness of democracy and national self-determination.
NotThePars
McDonnell’s good. Only banter when you’re flinging the Little Red Book at Osborne, calling the Labour plotters “fucking useless”, or pointing out that Scottish Labour’s position on indyref and People’s Vote is completely contradictory.

Don’t encourage them; it’s EUref2 (and I say that as someone who thinks it should happen). The “people’s vote” name is rank, and a cheap ploy to make it sound like it’s not a second referendum (thereby downplaying the hypocrisy in claiming to oppose second referendums).
DAFC.
Not a lot of "Greece without the weather" or "Yestapo" comments. Penny finally dropped for the Yoons?

AUFC90
I wonder how long for the first unionist fuckwit to espouse " there's no appetite for a 2nd referendum". The SNP mandate is now rock solid as both their parameters, set out in their manifesto, for another ref have been met. I would imagine Ruth now has people helping her dig out a hole in which to hide in.

Fucking wonderful!!https://www.politicshome.com/news/uk/political-parties/labour-party/john-mcdonnell/news/105794/john-mcdonnell-labour-would-not Even the Tory frontbench team at Holyrood who are staunch 'noindyref2' right now have made it clear that they see some sort of route towards it happening with Davidson herself saying that its possible in the next Scottish Parliamentary term. The likes of Murray and McDougall are total extremists. Ironically, they are pretty much the embodiment of narrow minded identity politics and wouldn't look out of place in the DUP tbh. Just fucked up little activists with the most diddyish small business interests imaginable who have delusions of their parties cemented infinite moral superiority and their own competence.

DAFC.
Mental that Labour types are screaming for a "People's Vote" i.e. Euroref2, yet totally against indyref2. At least some of the English MP's are starting to embrace democracy and realise this is an issue that Scotland should be raising again, never mind the fact the current Scottish government 100% have a mandate to do so.
Alert Mongoose
We are going to face the fact that we all need to stop measuring absolutely everything in monetary terms. It's self perpetuating and until the world gets to grip wih a concept outwith this then we will tie ourselves in knots forever. Money is segueing away from nations to rich individuals at such an alarming rate that the only way to halt it is to look at alternatives to money.
