The Courier used to be a horrible right-wing rag though in recent years it has surprisingly become more balanced.

Not sure what’s happening now though.

At the risk of upsetting @scottsdad take one look at this p***k and tell me if he’s representative of the people of Angus/NE Fife.

Not upsetting in the slightest - he looks exactly like how I imagine someone from Angus.

Didn't Jenny Hjul, missus of Alan Cochrane, contribute badly-written, spittle-flecked Unionist diatribes to the Courier? Not unlike her hubby's hysterical rants in the Tele?

To emphasise, there are perfectly respectable cases to be made for remaining in the Union, albeit I disagree with them. So why do right-wing papers tend to foreground only mad-eyed extremists?

As for this Liddle guy, he looks like the Eton-educated offspring of Bonzo Johnson and Gyles Brandreth. (Apologies for any nightmares this description may cause).

Latest poll: Sample size 1048. Conducted 16-21 of Dec. Savanta.

Yes: 44%

No: 46%

Undecided: 9%

Quote

Commenting on the findings, Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta said: “Many pollsters have shown Yes leads recently, but the bulk of them – especially the larger ones – have come off the back of the Supreme Court ruling, a ruling which is likely to have made polling a little noisy and more volatile than usual. Now the dust has settled, we’re showing no change from our previous poll at the beginning of October, showing the most marginal of No leads but, really, the race would be too close to call were a referendum tomorrow.”

“This remains a good position for the SNP and the Yes camp to be in.

"Given views across Scotland are so entrenched on the issue of independence, I can only really foresee an actual referendum campaign moving the needle and swinging the pendulum the way of whoever makes the more convincing argument between unionists and those advocating for Scottish independence.

Indeed. An absolutely cretinous individual. Imagine Isabel Oakeshott after an utterly horrendous paper round, but angrier. I haven't bothered with the Courier since it became paywalled and 12ft ladder stopped working.

2 ways to look at it.

In 8 years, 'Yes' is still around where it was back then.

Or..44% is a good 'starting point' for any future campaign,

With "Don't Knows" excluded, Yes is at 49% in this poll. That's 4% up on the 2014 referendum.

Referenda don't include "don't knows" in their results, so Jedi is comparing apples & oranges.

Either that, or he is being deliberately misleading.

It’s changed times seeing UK Nats joyous over the UK being on a knife edge. Time was support for Scotland’s status as a minor region was never even close to being in doubt.

And of course don't knows excluded has No at 51%.

A few weeks ago we were told that Independence was a shoe in

Public services in chaos in Scotland, nurses union rejecting latest 'offer', teachers unions rejecting 'offers' (I know, it's entirely down to Westminster)...even Swinney himself said that wider factors were at play in finance at the moment (eg Ukraine, etc).

GRA meanwhile takes up more of NS's time and grants her 'legacy' in her eyes as opposed to Independece

Why would a Unionist be worried about NS doing things other than independence?

How come they all seem so determined that she's some kind of all-powerful dictator, keeping her party and so many voters in her thrall?

Did she inherit magic underpants from Eck when he resigned?

Maybe because living in Scotland and therefore being directly affected by decisions made by, the you know, Scottish govt means that 'every' political issue or agenda in Scotland isn't just about Independence..hard though that is to believe.

Never mind, am sure the popularity of the Sturg will be soaring agai  soon with the general public as we also keep being told how the vast majority of the Scottish public think she's pure dead brilliant
