Stinky Bone 184 Report post Posted February 6 18 hours ago, Stormzy said: How much you down by? Not much. There are many of us so the cost is spread. Still got money in the appeal bank. 18 hours ago, Dawson Park Boy said: The SG don’t want independence. Life is far too comfortable at Holyrood with ‘loadsamoney’ coming from Westminster. If this is a reference to MPs at westminster, then it pains me to agree with you. It looks like some are there for the money. 15 hours ago, NotThePars said: Absolutely nobody credible believes this would suffice as a declaration of independence. It used to be SNP policy though. If you don't believe me, look it up. For what it is worth, I believe a majority at westminster, plus a majority at Holyrood should be enough. I get that some vote SNP because they believe they are the best party to govern in Scotland and may not be Independence minded, which is why the policy was changed. We need to assert the Scottish Parliament as the Parliament of our choice. We need to "Take back control" and refuse to accept westminster's authority. Hopefully this will happen after the May elections. 15 hours ago, Day of the Lords said: This. The well-worn Thatcher quote is as meaningless as the "Once in a generation" pish the yoons fire up, and as SCENES-worthy as UDI would be, it's not at all realistic. The only viable methods are through a watertight SNP majority at Holyrood standing on an Indy-vote ticket, or the courts. The first is mildly possible, the latter, probably not. It used to be SNP policy. I am sure you can look it up. The Indy vote ticket is getting tired now, I wish it wasn't. I will still vote SNP because I have a little bit of hope inside of me that says they will deliver on their promises. 4 hours ago, Dawson Park Boy said: I agree to the extent that if you believe that the present SNP hierarchy will get you independence. However, he thinks otherwise, and I believe he is correct as the present lot don’t want independence and are just in it for a cushy life and developing woke policies about which most folks know very little - GRA, hate speech, etc. In fact, he’s doing my cause a lot of good and I gave him a donation yesterday. Apart from that, he’s a great journalist who digs up lots of interesting stories. He lives in Bath but, so what? As a Scottish nationalist and SNP member to a British nationalist, your first sentence appears to be accurate.

Isn't Prince Andrew staying in Dunbarton castle already? I am sure I read something about him moving there earlier. O'Kelly Isley III 3,108 Report post Posted February 6 Isn't Prince Andrew staying in Dunbarton castle already? I am sure I read something about him moving there earlier. Er, no....you may be confusing this with Haribo and Megan being made Earl and Countess of Dumbarton, not that they'll ever set foot here if Andrew was to stay in the Castle the French Prison would suit admirably.

It depends what people are doing it for. Half the idiots I post in the Pundits thread are making me laugh more than anything these days but any time I log on to Twitter it's the same folk on the left getting angry at people who are either nonentities or never reply. What's the point? I saw someone in the mentions of that Flying Rodent at 12:30 at night replying to everything they were saying with zero engagement. What's the point in getting that mad at someone at midnight on a Saturday night?
San Starko Rover 2,420 Report post Posted February 7 Actually surprised No10 hast tried to get the EPL to include Celtic and Rangers in the hope that’d make the fans back the Union or risk losing out on the riches. Team UK and a UK league for all sports, that horse has long since bolted and any attempt to merge them now would see more people supporting independence. Can’t imagine soft No voters who support Scottish Rugby or football being in favour. As above were more like Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia than France or Italy, we’ve never really been one Nation and have always kept our separate identities. I don’t know many people who voted No that describe themselves as only being British, try to take their Scottish identity and you’ll push them towards the Yes side. Most No voters I’ve met are against independence due to uncertainty for their own jobs, finances, pensions etc not some great pride in being British. At the last census only 8% in Scotland identified as British only, trying to push the “North Britain” line is a massive own goal for the Unionist side.
Dunfermline Don 445 Report post Posted February 7 I am sure that a threat to a national rugby team playing in Cardiff would also be a boost for Welsh independence.🏴I remember joking to a no voter on Sept 19 in 2014 that FIFA had now asked for the amalgamation of the Scottish and English national sides after the referendum result. For a few minutes they actually believed me and were horrified at the thought!

San Starko Rover 2,420 Report post Posted February 7 I’m admittedly no expert on these things but Barcelona’s presence in La Liga hasn’t exactly served as a bastion for the cause of Spanish unityNo but like Scotland the Catalonian movement sits at around the 45% mark, are a percentage of Barcelona fans swayed by possible exclusion from La Liga and total irrelevance in a Catalonian league? The same with Celtic and Rangers while we sit in the 45-55% area every vote is crucial. Would moving, Celtic, Rangers even Hearts and Hibs make a huge difference? probably not but it might be enough to tip the balance for Westminster.
