Dani Garavelli is far from a ‘yoon’ - I think she actually supports independence! - I’m actually looking forward to what she has to say.

Garavelli was early follower of the Phillip Cross Twitter account which suggests she is closely connected to the UK security services.

Phillip Cross is an alias account for editing Wikipedia which is constantly editing Wikipedia articles to give them a right wing, pro MI5, MI6, MoD slant. It has been editing Wikipedia literally every day for over  5 years.

There was a twitter account in that name which never tweeted but was followed by mainly journalists including Garavelli which suggests a clear link between those journalists and security services propaganda.

We need to remember that like many workers in society who are hired hands, the actions of journalists may or may not reflect their personal views or opinions. I know several people who are employed by the UK Government who vote SNP, and there are others whose personal circumstances may dictate that they are in jobs which would not have been their natural choice.

Quite a fascinating subject. You get fairly convincing evidence it is at least partly run by Oliver Kamm and instead of him being written off as a biddable intelligence asset who is probably also a psychopath he seems to still be regarded as someone worth listening to. That and the way the whole integrity initiative thing was handwaved away is nuts. I didn't know Garavelli had a Cross connection.

I think it's because it's pretty much every MSM journalist that deals with anything security/defence related.

The Guardian was brought into line post Snowden and all the papers have meetings at Whitehall where they coordinate foreign coverage with the security services.

This is a hard tweet to search for. Twitter search will not bring it up.

Not sure why it would be odd for the Guardian to have a deputy editor on the committee.

There are currently seventeen members nominated by the Media; five by the News Media Association (NMA), two by the Committee’s Chairs, one by the Professional Publishers Association (but has vacancies for two) and one each by the Scottish Newspaper Society, the Press Association, the BBC, ITN, ITV, Sky TV, the Society of Editors, IHS Markit (Jane’s), the (Book) Publishers Association and two by the Committee’s Chairs.

The point is when they were edited by Rusbridger they weren't on the committee and they had far more diverse opinion in the paper and broke stories like the Snowden revelations.

Under Viner they are pretty much state stenographers on non UK issues and are basically kept afloat by money from Gates, Rockefeller, Soros etc. They had an opinion piece recently that suggested the security services should work against Scottish independence (which obviously happens anyway).

On the broader issue you can't say we have a free press when they are literally taking orders from the security state. Coverage of Corbyn was beyond biased and foreign coverage is extremely politicised. The coverage of Yemen and Bolivia are the best (and saddest) examples of this.
