Correct decision, the majority of Scots don't want to waste £20 million dividing the country again. We can't have the tail wagging the dog. Spend it on something useful, like keeping old people warm or for kids.

Seen this being said a couple of times and it's a truly ridiculous take. The lack of awareness shown by folk like you of what's actually going on in this country is simply staggering.

Ludicrous that bloody SNP were going to waste these millions on a referendum when for the same money they could have had 1/6th of a brexit festival nobody wanted or went to.

The hilarity of the £20m being brought up again, it's being spent regardless, if you wanted to minimise the spend don't keep forcing governments to jump through hoops to deliver their manifesto.

If opponents want the SNP to stop pursuing independence, all they have to do is persuade enough of the Scottish electorate to stop voting for them.

So far they've spectacularly failed.

scottish labour/tory party have no ideas they only go on and on and on about how a vote for the snp is a vote to breakup this union.....even during the 2014 referendum there was nothing from either party about the benefits of staying..it was non stop doom and gloom from them

Pretty accurate. But what do you suggest Scotlands independence majority do to ensure their democratic voice is heard?

1. Scotland doesn't have an ' independence majority'.  Repeatedly, be it elections or opinion polls, support for partition is below 50%.  This is quite incredible given the 6 years of turmoil since the Brexit debacle.  Given how shite Britain's governance has been - when even the likes of me haven't voted Tory - it's an embarrassment that support for Nationalism is so low.

2. The reason for this is that voters in Scotland have seen just how abysmal governance in Scotland is - and no amount of dugs in tartan coats or blokes in Glengarries marching up and down is going to change the truth that - over 15 years - Scotland has been managed very badly by the Nats.  They are not only incompetent but mendacious.

3. Answer is a simple one:  Use the £2,000+ pppa Barnett Bonus to govern Scotland better.

1. There is a way to test who is in the majority. One side refuses because they know the will lose.

2. Its all very well criticising the SNP government....and much of the criticism is justified.....but painting a devolved administration with limited powers and fixed fiscal constraints as being primarily responsible is being disingenuous. The bulk of our nations economic and social woes continue to be the fault of, as you described, shite British governance.

3. This is just pish.....and you know it.

This in fact is the only route to independence. SNP trying to cut corners manufacturing grievance when they start with only 45% Yes is absolutely no use.

I don’t think the SNP manufactured England and Wales ripping apart the (European) Union and forcing Scotland to endure it.

There is more chance of the Titanic sailing into New York than this ludicrous referendum happening and the racist cult that is the SNP actually winning it. The ship has sailed.  It sank in 2014. Next.

So are you accusing every SNP voter of being a racist?

Only the anti- English and anti-British ones. Which is probably the majority of them.

The arguments from 2014 for Scotland staying in this "equal and voluntary union of nations" have been proven to be a load of shite.

And today, in case it was in any doubt, we see that it is not an equal and voluntary union of nations.

No need for the SG to campaign in favour of independence, when the UK establishment does a fine job of campaigning for independence themselves.

What was created in 1707 was a new nation, not a union.  We're one nation with one sovereign parliament - as The Wigs reminded us today.  That this came as a surprise to Nats is laughable.

By extension, you’re claiming the majority of English and Welsh voters are anti-continental/anti-European racists. Why do you support racism?

if he is who i think he is and posts on another site(the style is the same)i really dont think he's in a position to call anybody a racist.
