Bloody SNP AND GREEN!” Expect to see a lot of this. After all, we should be far more concerned about the ferries than about the strong and stable UK economy being set ablaze (which is absolutely fine and was planned, as going down in flames is good, dammit.) BBC seem to be ignoring the destruction of the economy by the Tories in favour of the ferries
Terry_Tibbs
Scotland's fiscal deficit is projected to be within touching distance of 10 per cent of GDP in the mid-2020s. Crystallising a deficit of that size as a Scotland-only liability for a new state with no sovereign debt borrowing record would be reckless. Combine that with a currency policy that would keep Scotland tied to sterling informally ('sterlingisation') when an independent Scotland would also start off with a large trade deficit, and we're talking almost guaranteed economic hara-kiri. - John Ferry -
Stellaboz
The UK has us running ro a 10% deficit? Another reason to leave.

Wrong Fiscal deficit as percentage of GDP after 1st qr was 2.6%. Will obviously rise but is currently second lowest of the G7 countries. Not on the same level as Scotland alone. -
Popular Post Jeff Venom
I often find it curious that no matter what option is on the table, Scotland is absolutely fucked. Scotland much be the only country in the world where everything is a burden. It's utterly pathetic.

Rather than being a socialist state doling out goodies to all and sundry it should aspire to being a wealth producing nation with low taxes and large incentives for businesses and individuals to prosper. The more millionaires the better. Under the present leadership you have no hope.

As more and more people in Scotland accept the realities of what's unfolding with Truss & Kwarteng, an independent Scotland is looking ever more likely. What Carlos Fuentes said about Mexico's change in direction in the 90s seems to fit Scotland as well - "The road will be rocky, but the stones on the path can well become the masonry of the future". Mind you, building for the future would seem to be alien to the current UK that seems hell-bent on tearing the whole place down.

There are many who want to see new parties and options after indy so that we prosper.

Therefore if you have a tenner then you are a millionaire. Why are you so obsessed with millionaires anyway, the mark of a decent society is measured in quality of life not size of bank balance. The less millionaires and the less poverty we have the better for society.

It's a quote from a Lib Dem Spectator journalist. That says it all.

More tax = more money for people at the lowest end of society, somehow. He's also explained previously that we have to keep cutting taxes, as people with money just won't pay them unless we keep cutting to win the global race to the bottom. It's almost like he just parrots contrarian shite in order to get replies, and doesn't actually believe any of it. Crazy.

I mean, that's what taxes should do, right? Of course, maybe you've forgotten that. Maybe you think taxes should be spent the way they are by Westminster – on writing off £12bn of wasted PPE spending, or on spending £37bn on track and trace with 'no discernible benefit', or laying out £13bn on failed defence procurement, or even ponying up £100m on frivolous challenges to disabled benefits claimants. I mean, yeah, if taxes were to go on that, fair enough. I'd like to think Scotland will aspire to better, though.
