I hope Henry can be seen quickly by his local practice to remove ten years worth of fence-sitting splinters from arse!

Anyway- fair play Henry. Welcome aboard. It took bloody long enough!!!

Fully expect him to confirm his plans to revolutionise Scottish football tomorrow, he's on a roll

He is about 40 years too late.

Norways sovereign wealth fund holds the world's largest stocks and shares portfolio. Set up in the late 70's to ensure the people benefitted from its oil wealth, in the last three months alone, growth in that portfolio has meant every single citizen of Norway has made over 8000 dollars. Just in a few months.

Norway and Scotland discovered oil around the same time. The Scottish sector has actually extracted and sold more.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-21/norway-wealth-fund-returned-45-7-billion-in-first-quarter

Norway's people will be rich for ever as a result of their oil.

Once the North sea jobs are gone WE HAVE F@CK ALL.

McLeish is part of the cabal that made up slab through the 70's 80's 90's  and into the new millennium. They succeeded in fooling the gullible for decades. They are a big part of the reason we are where we are.

Anyway...better late than never right enough.

Anyone spouting the argument that Scotland can't be independent is either lying or untrustworthy on any major issue in the same way that people who think the American presidential was rigged are unserious commentators

Indeed. Our oil wealth to date has made house prices in Aberdeenshire rise, and given well paid jobs to many thousands.

However when you look at what Norway has done with less, it's pretty clear we have had the scraps from the table.

Our oil wealth has further lined the pockets of the select few already super rich, funded the public sector through painful societal changes caused by those following through on crazy far right economic thought projects and built modern London's infrastructure and made it look nice.

All to be continually told we are a drain on their resources🤣

Well. F@ck that.

This is potentially a super wealthy country. Yet our folk are some of the poorest in Western Europe.

There is still a more oil under our sea than previously extracted. It's out their waiting for the right conditions.

As for renewables.

https://www.scotland.org/features/welcome-to-europes-power-source

With the right policies and political direction, we will become the "Saudi Arabia of renewables." But we need independence. Energy policy is reserved.

The current snp idea of nationalising the supply side only is a bodge. It needs to be at source and supply. Sturgeons SNP has so far shown not to be the party to rock the UK/ big corporations boat.

Let's not make the same mistake again.

Scotland's potential oil reserves are a red herring

With or without them Scotland is clearly going to be a viable independent state

It's not like you lads are Transnistria or something

Wouldn't say the oil reserves are a red herring. They are simply an additional potential source of revenue. The world is still going to need oil for a long long time.....and new ways of tackling deeper more difficult extractions and making it cheaper to do so, are going to continue being developed for a while yet.

The future is clearly renewables though. Scotland's geography in that respect, places it in a pretty much prime position to exploit developments in wind and tidal harness technology.

In its infancy of development we are already a net exporter of such power.

To enable the people of Scotland to benefit fully this asset needs to be controlled at source....using the Norwegian model to build up a sovereign fund.

Westminster is the ball and chain in this situation.

I doubt that he will be able to meet his practitioner face to face right now unless whats his name ( Nicola's new Health Minister ) pulls his finger out.

Scotland has more GPs than rest of the UK, study finds

That’s pleasing but for the statistics to be accurate a part time GP should only be classed as half a GP.

Cant imagine there will be much difference across the UK but there are so many (mainly female) GP’s who work part time that this needs to be reflected in the statistics to make them meaningful.

You’re trying too hard. If you want that sweet, sweet negative attention, you have to make it look like you’re not actively pursuing it.

I wonder if his dreadful wife "hates" female GPs as well emoji23.png

If she existed, I’m sure she wouldn’t. As a fictional figure designed to play up the casual misogyny in order to try and get a rise out of randos on the internet, I’m sure she hates them lady doctors, most of whom are ugly and fat and should never have left the kitchen! Dawson Park Wife can safely be dumped with Kincy’s children, Drusilla, Urquhart, and Peregrine (all of whom have been warmly embraced into the English upper class, what), in the “Product of an Utter Fucking Fantasist” bin.

Wants accurate statistics whilst the govt he supports are trumpeting 50 new hospitals ...

See that word 'new'. What about if we just include the ones already under construction. And the ones we are just doing an additional wing on.

And ones we're just changing a few lighbulbs on...

Ones under construction should only count as half, mind. Also construction workers should count in with the increased number of nurses, but only if they're British.

Half a GP? Fucking hell.

You just can't stand anything positive about Scotland.
