Billy Gibson

Hurlford United would wish to express the most deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hurlford United fan and former referee Billy Gibson who sadly passed away this morning at the age of 57.

Billy was a Blair Park regular and although he moved to Newmilns a few years ago would still attend matches when he was able to. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife Nancy and daughter Carlyn at this sad time.

The club are looking for as many volunteers as possible at Blair Park to help fork the pitch on Thursday and Friday to help maximise efforts to get this Saturday's Scottish cup match with Dalkeith to go ahead. The park will be open between the hours of 10:30am and 3pm on both days. Thanks in advance for anyone who can make themselves available.

Is the pitch in a bad way?

Its soft at the moment and the club would have preferred to use the vertidrain on the pitch. But as this requires the use of a tractor the fear was that the tractor would cut the pitch up and do more damage. Hence the reason the club have turned to a manual option. Not ideal but hopefully the correct option.
