Was quite funny that Heidenheim were losing 2-0. Made it 2-1 in injury time and then got a winner.

Must be very deflating for them, would make Stuttgart favourites for the Playoff.

Small correction, they made the 2-1 shortly after the 2-0, then equalised in 90+3 and scoring the winner in 90+9.

The proverbial shite day at the office as H96 went down meekly to Holstein Kiel 1-5. 3-0 down at half-time. Bartels made it 5-0 with two goals in quick succession on the hour mark. Neumann with a consolation goal 10 minutes thereafter. Usual larger than usual crowd, 36.000, for the last game of the season.

Watched the german equivalent of Sportscene earlier. Some real Albert Kidd stuff in Sandhausen. The Hamburg end shooting their load as the Heidenheim score in Regensburg filtered through. Flares, fireworks and a pitch invasion at the end, only for news of Heidenheim‘s 99th minute winner to come through. Tears left, right & centre.

It will be interesting to see if they manage to pick themselves back up for the play-off. This will have been such a massive blow mentally to Hamburg that it could affect them badly. Losing it in such a way will have been so much tougher than had Heidenheim just spanked Regensburg so Hamburg knew from early on that it wasn't to be yesterday.

Agree, that the way things turned out will have been a massive blow. At the game on Sunday though, it was far and away the fans responsible for the premature celebrations. At the final whistle the H96 trainer, Tim Walter, was out trying to calm things down, pointing out that the Regensburg-Heidenheim game was still going on.

Think the biggest pressure on HSV will be internal and coming from the financial dept. This is their 5th season in BL2, most of the major sponsers / inputers of money behind the scenes will be losing patience and will no doubt have trimmed their contributions by a fair bit (after relegation, the expectation was straight back up, winning most games etc.). Not sure if this is a reason for the inflated ticket prices at present.

With Schalke & Hertha coming down, then it's another 2 'big' clubs to compete with. Can see Schalke splashing the money about in order to get back up straight away.

I'm more than glad to see the back of Heidenheim though. A nightmare of a journey from northern Germany, 6½ - 7 hours each-way on the train from Hannover.

Basically yes, though not sure what they think that throwing seats at Burnley fans will achieve.

Was at the game, though in the Bob Lord Stand behind the dugouts.

In the Inn on the Wharf pub, which had been designated as where away fans should go, prior to the game. No trouble or anything, but a fair few already v. drunk (at 12:30) plus a couple of faces you only seem to see at games deemed "high risk"!

The majority of the ca. 400 H96 fans were then escorted to Turf Moor by about 30 police (4 or 5 mounted).

First 15 minutes were fairly meh, then H96 had a good spell with Füllkrug, Albornoz & Klaus all missing good chances. Just after the half-hour mark about half the away fans rushed over to the segregation line ( not sure why, but a rendition of 10 German bombers is being given as the reason on FB/Twitter), next minute seats are being thrown, a lot of gesturing etc.

Mee put Burnley 1 up just before half-time, then about 10 minutes after the 2nd half should have kicked off, it was announced that the game had been abandoned on police advice. By this time there were helicopters and riot police in place. Left the ground, walked up to Manchester Road station and got the train to Leeds.

There's enough stuff on social-media to hope that a large number of the numpties involved get banning orders etc. All they've achieved is to sully the reputation of the club, ensure that there'll be even more scrutiny on away fans for the upcoming BL season and negate the likelihood of a similar pre-season game in the UK in the near future.

Took the best part of 6 years, but 13 H96 fans fined a total of €32.700. Burnley Express

  • German Jag changed the title to Bundesliga 2023/24
  • 3 weeks later...

Am I right in saying it's the last 2 weekends of the season where they play all the games in each division at the same time? Was planning on going to Hertha in the away end with Kaiserslautern but it's the 2nd last weekend which might scupper plans to do many other games.
