That looks excellent.

That also looks like an incredible amount of segregation!

The bottom left hand section in the video is the family block. The police insist on the other blocks being shut, not for reasons as to where the seats are but the entrances to the stadium.

400km/250 miles from where I live to Sandhausen, so day off work and overnight in Heidelberg for the game on Friday night. Ca. 500/550 Hannoveraner saw them get their 1st ever win in the Hartwald stadium. A fairly easy win in the end, although going from 1-3 to 2-3 made the last 15-20 minutes a bit arse-clenchy. The 3 points takes H96 to 3rd in the table. After the international break, next game is at home under the floodlights against Hamburg.

Highlight of my p&b week are these posts.

Hamburg will be a hell of a game.

A full, 49.000, stadium for the 1st time since before Corona as H96 hosted SV Hamburg on Friday night, with a good 10-12.000 Hamburger äin attendance.

As previously mentioned H96 has one of these cringe-worthy "fan friendships" with Hamburg, so plenty of half & half scarves etc. One benefit though is that police presence is at a minimum and an overall more relaxed atmosphere.

H96 off to a flyer with Muroya picking up a loose pass and slotting home in the 4th minute. Hamburg with the equaliser in the 15th minute courtesy of an own goal after Julian Borner deflected into his own goal.

Game looked to be heading for a draw until Hamburg grabbed all 3 points in the 92nd minute!

Next up away to Hoffenheim.

A 'Miles Hunt' of a weekend. Initial plan was to go to FSV Frankfurt, home to Eintracht Trier, in the Regionalliga Südwest on the Saturday. TA supporting mate who's a FSV season-ticket holder had to call off due to Corona. Journey down to Frankfurt cancelled due to 'presumed' sabotage on the Deutsche Bahn telecommunications systems. All trains in northern Germany at a standstill for the best part of 3 hours. Eventually made it down to Frankfurt, watched the Dortmund - Bayern game. Sunday morning, Frankfurt to Heidelberg, then onwards with a mate & his son to Heidenheim. Heidenheim is the arse end of the world and one of the most difficult places to get to and back from in a single day from north Germany.

Despite that ca. 5-600 Hannoveraner in attendance. All of which probably wondering why they bother after H96 went down 2-1.

Defensive cöck-up in the 1st half left Ron-Robert Zieler in no-mans land and he was easily lobbed for the 1st goal. Heidenheim doubled their lead on the hour mark. Thereafter H96 huffed and puffed a lot, eventually getting a goal back in the 92nd minute courtesy of Cedric Teuchert. All a case of too little too late. Back to Heidelberg after the game, then a train north, eventually geting home about half eleven...

Next up a, dreaded, 20:30 ko on Saturday against bottom of the league Arminia Bielefeld.

Elsewhere 1FC Kaiserslautern took a massive 10.000 fans upto Hamburg for their 1:1 draw on Saturday evening. A ca. 750 mile round trip.

Dortmund - Bayern ending up drawing, as did Freiburg against Hertha. With Union beating Stuttgart, means that next weekend's games at the top of the BL are 1st place Union hosting 4th place Dortmund and 2nd place Freiburg having to travel to 3rd placed Bayern Munich.

Whoever thought that 20:30 games on a Saturday was a good idea needs a boot in the b@lls.

Anyway, 3.500 Bielefelder watched their team lose 2-0. Teuchert in the 4th minute got H96 off to a flyer. 2-0 from Teuchert in the 44th minute got VARed.

A Håvard Nielsen goal in the 86th minute guaranteed that all 3 points stayed in Hannover.

Next up, Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday. BL2 is, for once, a 13:00 Saturday k/o in Nüremberg.

The German league is in that sense similar to the Dutch league, spreading KO times around a lot so everything can be live on TV. Excelsior are playing Ajax away at 8pm tonight. Plenty of Excelsior fans I know aren't even bothered going now, to be back home close to midnight on a Sunday for a game that's most likely going to be a pumping anyway. I can't really blame them that they're not bothered going!

On Saturdays the last game in The Netherlands usually kicks off at 9pm.

Full house for H96 - Borussia Dortmund in the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal. A game in which H96 deserved a draw at minimum had they been able to put away some of the gilt edged chances offered to them.

Dortmund took the lead, against the run of play, courtesy of an own goal whereby Arrey-Mbi put a slight deflection on a shot across goal from Moukoko. Thereafter H96 the dominant team and had numerous chances, all of which denied by a top-notch performance from Kobel in goal for Dortmund.

70th minute Dortmund had a counter attack which resulted in Bellingham getting taken out for a penalty, which he himself duly scored.

Adeyemi saw red 5 minutes from time after fouling Derrick Köhn on the edge of the box.

Got a spare ticket from a mate, so not in the away block but with one of the best views available. Unfortunately it was for one of the worst games I‘ve ever seen. Absolutely no shots on goal or points of contention. Will take the point, but after the way they played on Wednesday a massive come down.
Next up Sunday at home to Karlsruher SC

I watched the second half of the Union Berlin game earlier, what a fantastic atmosphere and great scenes at the end with a late disallowed would-be winning goal followed by an actual winning goal in the 97th minute. Union back to the top.

If you ever get the chance to go, definitely go
