Bundesliga 2023/24

Recommended Posts

Last weekend H96 got the 1st win monkey of their backs with a deserved, albeit courtesy of a deflected og, win at home to Regensburg.

FRiday night in Magdeburg was the 1st match between both clubs in either the BL or BL2. Just under 24.000 in attendance with 2.500 Hannoveraner making the trip. Massive police presence. Still a tendency for fans of former East German clubs to be living in the 80's hooligan times, plus FC Magdeburg have a 'Fan-Freindship' with Eintracht Braunschweig.

An easy win for H96, despite the amount of posession that Magdeburg had. Beier in the 14th minute plus Kranjc just before half-time gave H96 a 2 goal lead at half-time. A peach of a strike from Sei Muroya made it 3, with Teuchert getting the 4th in injury time.

After the game some scuffles / handbags on the pitch between both sets of fans, with the fire brigade having to be called after some clowns set off fireworks in one of the toilets.

Next up home to Greuther Fürth on Sunday.

Checking games on hesgoal.com and just saw Duisburg goalie, Vincent Müller, score a goal from just over half way inside his own half to put them 2-0 up away to Meppen in BL3.

It was further in his own half than I thought.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but how would I buy tickets for a Bundesliga game outwith Bayern Hertha Dortmund? Only sites I can see are touts. Ideally November.

Union Berlin no chance.

For all other clubs, as long as Bayern or Dortmund are not the away team then there is a good chance of purchasing tickets. One or two derby/localness scenarios such as Köln/Leverkusen etc. which are also nigh near impossible.

Exact dates & times for fixtures have only been set upto the international break at the end of September. Hopefully the October & November games get announced soon.

Any particular game(s) / region in Germany in mind?

Yeah, after trying and failing to see unions stadium I thought tickets might be a tall ask. No particular game in mind, but since Edinburgh flies to Berlin, frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Munich, most of Germany would be possible for a game. What teams would you suggest?

Düsseldorf gives you the most options.

You've got Cologne, Leverkusen, Mönchengladbach, Bochum, Dortmund & Schalke all within easy travelling distance. Plus if doing a weekend there's the option of Fortuna Düsseldorf in the BL2.

H96 made it 4 wins on the trot with a 1-0 win in Rostock. A long, long day. Left the local train station at the back of 7, was about ¼ past midnight by the time I got home.

Big police presence, been a fair bit of trouble between both sets of fans in the past. Nowadays there are that many police present (all tooled up in riot gear) that there's next to no chance of anything happening around the stadium.

A full stadium (minus the segregation puffer blocks) 25.000 with 1.500 H96 fans. The main Rostock fan block is also in the same end of the stadium as the away end which tends not to be the case.

H96 secured the 3 points courtesy of a penalty scored by Maximillian Beier after he himself was brough down. Bit backs to the wall for chunks of the 2nd half, but Ron-Robert Zieler put in a man of the match display to maintain the 1-0 scoreline.

Next game is on Saturday, the Lower-Saxony derby at home to Eintracht Braunschweig. Classed as a high-risk game so once again riot police, helicopter surveillance, water-cannons, mounted police plus dog squads. The local tax-payers will be chuffed to bits.

Thanks to Lizzie's passing, Sky have graciously bothered their arse and shown some German football this weekend. Enjoyed the Friday night match between Werder and Augsburg (big win for Augsburg with a last minute penalty save to ensure they got the win) and today Union winning 1-0 away to Koln. Union unbelievably now topping the Bundesliga.

Would really like to go over some weekend and take in a couple of matches

Lower-Saxony Derby day last Saturday as H96 hosted Eintracht Braunschweig. 1st sell-out since before Corona. Reduced capacity of 42.000 due to segregation.

Plenty of Pyro, plenty of passion/atmosphere. Unfortunately not a lot of football. Braunschweig took the lead in the 69th minute. Thereafter a hectic 20 minutes as H96 went in search of the equaliser, which they deservedly got in the 80th minute. Chances for all 3 points, but despite hitting the bar a couple of times, remained a draw. „Felt like we lost 1:1“ was how one of my mares put it!

That looks excellent.

That also looks like an incredible amount of segregation!
