Yet another US shooting

It will get big licks as it's a gay bar. Gay bar. But that part should be irrelevant.

I don't think he is.

Why should it be 'irrelevant' that a gay hating terrorist has murdered 50 people at a gay club?

Should we just leave his motives as 'unknown'?

I don't think even he knows what point he's making there.

Both his dad and ex-wife have said that he isn't really religious and although religion is infamously intolerant of homosexuality there are millions of people that hate the gay community irrespective of their belief in a god. People appear to be attaching importance on his denominational belief just because. Don't pretend that homophobia is only perpetuated by the religious because it obviously isn't.

Don't accuse me of saying something I didn't say. There are plenty of homophobia that is not religiously 'inspired'. However there is a greater degree of homophobia amongst religious folk and certain religions, including Islam, are far more homophobic than others.

TBF I think he is making the point that the victims sexuality shouldn't be a newsworthy issue. It's how they died that is news.

True. I wouldn't have managed to get a pint in Edinburgh aged 14 if not for gay bars.

But it is ' the worst in history ' that gets my goat.

Not even close.

Thanks for backing me up boaby. Surprised.

'modern' ..... missed by sooky , and the beeb.

Bit like the 'Brits attacked in Marseille ' headlines by them .

I didn't back you up, you are picking up on Sooky missing out the word modern and you were being a sanctimonious p***k about it.

The BBC and all other media outlets I heard were reporting it as the worst in modern US history, and I doubt R4 would make that mistake.

It's all really irrelevant though as 50 people have been killed for 'The Agenda'

If you care, Florida does ban guns in bars even if you have a permit. From what I could find there are 16 states which ban concealed carry in bars, and a handful of other states which do not technically have a ban but issue so few permits that functionally there is a ban on guns in bars.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'd say I'm surprised that the number of states which don't allow folk to arm themselves whilst drinking in a bar is that low but I'd be lying.

Obama's due to make a statement in a few minutes. He'll no doubt talk about the need for stricter gun counter, higher magazine-capacity bans etc. But as per, sweet f**k all will be done about it.

Is it though when the victim's sexuality is very likely to have been the reason they were targeted. Should all news just be covered without context? If newspapers think Amber Heard's sexuality is important in a divorce case then I reckon it's definitely worth leading with here.

When will Njord be supplying the 'worst mass shooting in the US' of which this one doesn't get 'close' to?

When will he explain his 'doesn't matter that it's a gay club' comment?

Edit - Njord autocorrects to 'abhorrent'. Quite fitting.

Of course I think that, but that was his point.

I don't think Islam is more intolerant than Christianity more they just haven't had to row back their opinion in the face of secularisation. But I do accept that these communities have a real problem.
