Yet another US shooting

Recommended Posts

10 killed in 3 separate incidents in 2 days, :o

Then you'll have all the one off killings on top of that. Plus suicides.

ETA: 65 gun suicides per day. That's 2.72/hour. And 1.66 gun murders/hour.

Worth remembering that after one of their drivers was shot and killed, UPS tweeted thanking the police for their actions

Policeman 'ambushed and executed' in patrol car in Arkansas http://news.sky.com/story/policeman-ambushed-and-executed-in-patrol-car-in-arkansas-11881725

So was the guy who shot the policeman in the car just a passer-by who was unconnected with the other gunman?

Police used cars filled with civilians as shields while unloading on a cab known to have a hostage it from all sides. Victims included a random member of the public caught in the cross fire. You would think this might focus minds on whether police can really be trusted with firearms, (aside from the obvious race issues that half the country doesn't care about). In any other country it would, but not the greatest country in the world.

Nah they say they went outside after hearing the "execution", chased him into a back alley, killed him there, and only then did the same officers discover their colleague murdered. Doesn't sound right to me, but I wasn't there.

Many new police hires are ex military where they have been patrolling all kinds of god forsaken cities where there is real danger. They bring home this fear and patrol American cities where there is already mutual mistrust. it's surprising there arent more 'mishaps'

I thought that was strange, too.

Suppose this is somewhat relevant to this discussion. In India the four suspects of a gang rape/murder were shot dead by police when they were taken to the scene for a reconstruction. Police claim they grabbed a gun and tried to escape. Most Indians don't care and held impromptu street parties celebrating the police's actions.

What makes a gun battle "furious"?

No mention of "furious" in that report.
