Yet another US shooting

Recommended Posts

Fox News and the right in general need to paint this explicitly as an act committed by a Muslim terrorist because otherwise it requires a lot of questions to be asked about anti-LGBT attitudes within the USA and gun ownership.

I haven't been following this story, but whoever did it will turn out to be a loner who got his inspiration from the internet in a country where it's easy to get hold of guns. What websites he was looking at isn't that significant.

Owen Jones has just stormed off Sky News Press Preview as they continually deflected this away from a homophobic hate crime and more on to the Islamic terrorist line (essentially a giant version of 'It could've been me').

Trump has called for Obama to resign because he never used the term Islamic terrorism in his statement. Fox news had a similar situation earlier I think.

This is going to be a massively divisive issue in US politics.

Just watched that. Owen Jones absolutely right to challenge the disgusting narrative.

I suppose many will day it was childish at the very end but he is obviously deeply upset about what happened and then the subsequent glossing over of what happened. If this was a synagogue it wouldn't be characterised as an attack on religion.

Just watched it. Owen Jones wanted it only to be about gay people being attacked, and no questions allowed about the person who did it and his motivations, sanity or how he got the weaponry. Exactly the same questions would have been asked if the attack had been on a synagogue.

Sorry,  but I 100% agree with Owen Jones. Sky News and that women (I forget her name) should be fkn ashamed.

Imagine if after the Paris attacks the only thing you were allowed to say was "They were attacked because they were watching a band, sitting in a cafe, shopping in a Jewish owned supermarket" They weren't attacked "for" anything, there was no excuse for the people who do these things, other than that they've been brainwashed or are simply mad. Being gay isn't any different from the person sitting at a cafe, Owen trying to "own" the massacre for the LBGT community was embarrassing.

Donald J. Trump Statement Regarding Tragic Terrorist Attack in Orlando, Florida

Last night, our nation was attacked by a radical Islamic terrorist. It was the worst terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11, and the second of its kind in 6 months. My deepest sympathy and support goes out to the victims, the wounded, and their families.

In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam'. For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency.

If we do not get tough and smart real fast, we are not going to have a country anymore. Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen – and it is only going to get worse. I am trying to save lives and prevent the next terrorist attack. We can't afford to be politically correct anymore.

The terrorist, Omar Mir Saddique Mateen, is the son of an immigrant from Afghanistan who openly published his support for the Afghanistani Taliban and even tried to run for President of AfghanistanAccording to Pew, 99% of people in Afghanistan support oppressive Sharia Law.

We admit more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States.

Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term – and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing.

We need to protect all Americans, of all backgrounds and all beliefs, from Radical Islamic Terrorism - which has no place in an open and tolerant society. Radical Islam advocates hate for women, gays, Jews, Christians and all Americans. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone.

- Donald J. Trump

Tomorrow Mr. Trump will deliver a major speech to further address this terrorist attack, immigration, and national security. The speech will be delivered at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm's College. For more information please visit Donaldjtrump.com.

This was a deliberate and motivated attack on the LGBT community. The gunman wasn't looking for All Humans; he knowingly chose a gay nightclub - during Pride Month. The victims were specifically targeted because of their sexuality/identity. The gunman's own father has stated that the shootings were motivated by homophobia. None of what Jones says strikes me as 'embarrassing', but rather entirely reasonable. I certainly don't always agree with him, but he was nothing less than 100% justified in saying and doing what he did.

The shooter quit claimed his house to a sister for $10 in April.

His dad is a Taliban sympathizer.

We need to investigate the families of terrorist attackers. If any evidence that they know something is found we need severe penalties for American born family members and deportation for immigrants.

I note your hero above does not mention the sexuality/orientation of the victims once, only that everyone should be protected.

As with the New Year and since rapes/attacks of women in Europe by small and large groups of Muslim men, it's interesting to watch SJWs/Feminists once again jump to defend Islam before raped women and dead homosexuals.

You'd/the 'Progressive' media would be ravaging him without limit if the shooter was a white western man.

Everyone of course is entitled to their opinion on gun control, but I'm not sure what gun laws will stop motivated terrorists.

Here's a list of terrorists attacks specifically carried out with guns in European/Western countries with much stricter gun control laws. And of course a motivated terrorist who wants to kill people for his religion will figure out an equally murderous way even if for some reason he can't obtain a gun.
