It shows how little quality England actually have these days that the likes of Deeney and Vardy are being talked about as starters.

I think in years gone by they'd have maybe been at higher placed bigger clubs? Just that there's so much wealth in England now that the quality of player is so high across the board it skews things slightly.

If that makes sense..

Or the fact the English players are not good enough so they go abroad to hand pick there players.

Same thing really. In the past they haven't had this level of financial power over the rest of the leagues and the bigger clubs have had to get the best of the homegrown players.

Fairly harsh on Vardy. He's been among the most prolific strikers in Europe in one of the toughest divisions.

So? By the end of the season he'll be outwith the top 5 scorers in Europe. Maybe next season he'll hit double figures. Doesnt change the fact hes getting nowhere near the levels that Rooney/Owen/Shearer were. Theres a clear dip in quality for England at the moment.

Think Leicester will miss out on 4th place due to Man Utd scraping a series of 1-0 wins to finish 3rd and Spurs 4th with Arsenal 1st and City 2nd.

You do get the feeling that City can go on an absolute rampage but are almost choosing not to.

It's still an improvement on the times when Jay Boothroyd, David Nugent and Rickie Lambert got called up.

Spurs will finish ahead of Man Utd, between United and Leicester for 4th most likely. Then again would surprise me is Hiddink got Chelsea racing up the league. 10 or so points to make up in 19 games is easily done.

13 points behind the top 4 halfway through the season? Hardly easy. Can't see them coming close tbh.

Tbf I didn't say that it would be easy, just that making that number of points up is easily do-able by other teams form. I suspect that there are simply too many teams in between them, but since everyone seems to be sliding and faltering bar the top 3, nows probably the chance to capitalise.

The Man City Director of football was Barca's football director whilst Pep was in charge, the media are probably putting 2+2 together and hoping its 4.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gaurdiola ends up doing the Pentagon or San Marino challenge in a few years.

It'll be glorious if he wins a title and CL with an English club, then an Italian club, then a French club. Simply as it'll completely get it up Mourinho and his attempts at that feat in as many countries as possible.

Man City -> Juventus -> PSG -> Spain seems a realistic Pep career path

first proper challenge guardiola will have had really, the barca team he inherited was on the cusp of being the greatest team ever to have played the game, he undoubtedly helped and nourished it but lets face it, he walked into a guaranteed success, same at the bayern job

no matter what english team he gets, he'll literally have to start from scratch almost to win the CL, for all the good improvements city have made in the competition they are still woefully short of players needed to consistently perform in the CL, same goes for chelsea and united are nowhere near a team good enough for the CL last 16 nevermind winning the damn thing

Man City seems the most likely because of Begiristain, but then again he's managed two of three biggest clubs in the world and is obviously never going to manage Real Madrid, so going to the fourth biggest club in the world and biggest in England in Man Utd may be appealing.

I'm not sure he'd be put off by Man City being a considerably better side than Man Utd. Obviously he inherited a far superior group of players at Barcelona and that was his first job so it's not really comparable but he's got experience of turning round a team that were nowhere near the title. Barcelona finished 18 points behind Real Madrid in third the season before he took over and he may like the challenge of turning around a team like that again, proving just how good he is by taking Man Utd from also-rans to title winners in the space of a season.

All that said, if Man Utd don't make the top four this season he's surely not going to choose them when he could go straight for the Champions League with City.

I imagine Man City appeals more to him tbh. A DoF figure who understands the type of players he wants, plenty of money to bring in players he wants, no real club philosophy to fight with, and also a club he could leave fairly easily in 3-4 years. Man United fans have already shown a disgruntlement at slower possession football (Im not comparing LVG to Pep btw, just the slower tempo), the club has a built in philosophy of quick attacking play with wingers and they seem desperate for another empire builder.

What a load of shite, he inherited a team on the cusp of being the greatest in the world aye they were third in the league ffs

He promoted busquets and pedro from the b team, sold Ronaldinho and deco two incredible players and completely changed the style of play. He built the greatest side in the world he didn't inherit it.
