Final sadly went pretty much as expected.

Federer played really well, not at the level of Friday but Djokovic is a much better returner than Murray. Put him under much more pressure.

Ah well..Davis Cup now.

The reason Djokovic could return better was because Federer couldn't sustain the serving power and accuracy of the semi final. The first set he was at 59% in, whilst against Murray he was at 85%. Federer had to serve as well as that to have any chance, and he couldn't. His wins against Djokovic recently have all came with him serving superbly. As soon as that drops, he makes too many errors.

Sadly Federer wasn't able to win an eighth crown. Although his loss aids Murray in his quest to get the number two spot. Currently 1800 points behind Federer in the rankings, and 1200 ahead of Wawrinka in the race.

In American hard courts season he is defending 180 and 180 points in the Masters so with him also playing Washington (ATP 500) he has a good opportunity to gain points on Federer. Federer made the final in Canada and won Cincy last year so he will be defending 1600 points before the US Open. If he made number two just before the US Open that would be a great achievement.

Whilst Djokovic is clearly a better returner, I don't think Murray is that far behind, certainly the stats are quite close. You can't compare a match against Federer where fed got 84% of first serves in to one where he got 67% and say Djokovic put him under more pressure. If Federer serves 67% first serves v Murray it's a totally different game.

I think what djokovic has over murray and the other top guys is the ability to win points at important times. He won 4/10 break points and saved 6/7. Djokovic's mental strength just seems to be on another level.

Federer didn't get anything like 84% of first serves in against Murray. It was 76%. Djokovic returned far far better yesterday than Murray did on Friday.

I don't just mean on serve though. Djokovic forced Federer in the longer rallies to hit closer to the lines and to go for more, as he was much more resilient than Murray. Djokovic is just a good bit better than Andy Murray - no disgrace in that. That;s why he has 3 Wimbledons and many more Slams.

Great match, but this will be a repeat of Gasquet's semi final in 2007. Epic five set quarter, followed with a straight sets dismissal by the eventual champ.

Kens the score

He's a fucking dick who is involved in an absolute diddy 'sport'. He should be refused entry for that alone. Never mind his dress-sense.

Good to see dress code rules being applied to keep Lewis Hamilton out. What a cock.

Were the rules strictly applied to everyone? Note the man in the white t-shirt. SAF's neighbour is not wearing a tie.

More jacket-less and tieless guests around Kate Winslet.

The BBC's "journalists" don't have a clue.

Except those people aren't in the royal box, which was where Hamilton's invite was for.

He got 85% first serves in the first set.

But the performance of Federer's serve wasn't just about the % in. He hit the lines far more frequently against Murray and his average length was closer to the service lines against Murray. Although a direct comparison between the two is easy to make on the two matches. Djokovic saw more of the return and was able to put more pressure on Federer's serve because of the drop in all round quality. On grass Murray can return as well as Djokovic.

I do agree with the fact that Djokovic does everything Murray can do, and does it better. Murray does some things better, but the vast majority of Djokovic's skillset is better than Murrays. The leveller is the lower bounce on grass. I would like to see Murray take his forehand out to play against Djokovic a bit more. It sets Novak into a panic.

Overall I think Federer certainly played the better tennis in the fortnight, but considering Djokovic's tricky draw he came through doing more than enough without ever playing 10/10 tennis. Even in the final he only had to play a level ahead of Federer and apart from the two tight first sets, he was in control. It was good to see Federer roll back the years and dominate opponents with his serve again. He still has the greatest second serve in history.

It will be interesting to see Djokovic at the US Open. He has five finals there and only one victory.

Australia trailing 0-2 to Kazakhstan in Davis Cup on grass in Darwin.

Nick Kyrgios lost in four sets to Aleksandr Nedovyesov, 6-7 (7/5), 7-6 (7/2), 6-7 (7/5), 6-4, in the upset result of the day to leave Australia one loss away from being out of the Cup for 2015.

Kokkinakis had lost in straight sets to Mikhail Kukushkin in the opening rubber, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.

Meanwhile another Aussie tennis brat gets lifted in Miami. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-17/bernard-tomic-arrested-after-party-in-miami-hotel/6626562?section=sport
