clash city rocker
It was voted through a couple of years back but the secretary didn't like the result found a technicality to have a re-vote and got it overturned. Such is life in the West Region. Sepp Blatter wouldn't get a look in. Was that the St Ants proposal ?. Don't think it was for 16 team top league though. 16 team leagues gives you 15 home games that's the way to go.
clash city rocker
It's not about bottle, it's about means. Teams like Muirkirk and Craigmark have no chance of ever being in the same league as any of the ones you listed. Neither did Hurlford a few season's ago.. You just never know in fitba. Bankies Alive
Having 16 team leagues and binning diddy cups is the way to go. Will it happen? probably not, thats far too sensible. At least 3 teams pulled out of the Central League Cup this season.
Hertha/BJFC1938
16 team top league is a no brainer . Only 11 home league games as it stands is pathetic lets be honest . The SPL is hardly a role model but if they had a top twelve team league then they would be closer to looking at playing each team 3 or 4 times a season rather than just the twice . Obviously floodlights / the split etc gives them the scope to play each team 3 or 4 times a season but the current setup in the top flight in only 12 teams basically sets up a rat race to win the league / avoid relegation from the first whistle of the campaign. One of the main characters against it, Kennie at Lugar is not involved anymore, hopefully some club will have the balls to get it out on the agenda and at least get it voted on. Burnie_man
You need to plan for it. I suggested the East restructure on here and after a few tweaks it was picked up by Jeanfield Swifts and formally proposed at the East AGM 12 months later and was voted thtough by around 2/3rds of the clubs. Well done you. The East have made a success of it, how difficult would it be for West clubs to copy?. Looks to me that the East has progressive clubs and ideas in their set up while the West is stuck in the dark ages.
HibeeJibee
Was the main complaint about St Anthony's proposal not that it established 4 region-wide divisions of 16, which the smaller clubs baulked at? Something equivalent to what the East Juniors did would be 2 region-wide divisions, and 2 districts.

fan of the juniors
Clubs actually voted to change the structure but Kennie & fixturesan weren't happy & had a re vote & Craigmark changed their minds Great that such big hitters as Lugar & Craigmark can decide how the league progresses LADESIDE
Stants1902
Travel costs would put some of the smaller teams out of business and fans would be put off by the extra travellingDid a team not vote against it for this very reason, then win promotion to a superleague which incurs the extra travel costs? Some Ayrshire grounds are closer to central district grounds

Fear no foe
Yep, Prem looks a cracker with still enough quality in the league below. Bin the sectional and you could actually have a good dozen league fixtures played by the end of September, and still have the West, Scottish and one regional cup. The Evening times has to go, waste of space tournament. Causes far too many teams to pay players and train unnecessarily for a month, waiting on a fixture to be played. Dont understand why Evening times don't offer to sponsor the west or either or both regional cups when the current sponsorship expires.

Cups could be the Scottish, WoS, and then either have a knockout all-in League Cup, or bring back the old Ayrshire and Central District Cups and let the teams in the old geographical areas play in it. Either way, 30 league games/15 home league games a season has to be a good thing.

Dont understand why Evening times don't offer to sponsor the west or either or both regional cups when the current sponsorship expires. The Evening Times cup is a waste, I agree. I do think the sectional league cup is a great idea in principle, but doesn't get the attention it deserves by scheduling it at the very start of the season, meaning clubs use it as a trial. I would actually have a knockout cup for each league to give teams the chance to win a trophy, even those in the bottom leagues. There are clubs who haven't won anything for decades. For example, here is a list (as accurate as I can make it) of when the Ayrshire clubs last won a national, west or ayrshire-wide trophy:- Auchinleck Talbot - 2015 Glenafton - 2014 Troon - 2014 Hurlford - 2014 Cumnock - 2013 Largs Thistle - 2013 Irvine Meadow - 2013 Beith - 2010 Kilbirnie - 2010 Kilwinning - 2004 Annbank - 1988 Craigmark - 1981 Kello Rovers - 1976 Irvine Victoria - 1974 Ardeer Thistle - 1966 Dalry Thistle - 1961 Saltcoats - 1953 Lugar - 1951 Darvel - 1923 Ardrossan ? Girvan ? Maybole ? Muirkirk ? Whitletts ? Can't be much fun when you never really have anything to play for.
