The Greenock Morton Thread - It's Better Than Yours

Recommended Posts

In the grand scheme of things a strip really isn't that important, but it's just symptomatic of everything that makes the club a shambles. Through a combination of taking the cheap option and incompetence on something that shouldn't really be an issue, the club have contrived to generate negative national media attention that has everyone laughing, viewing us as unprofessional and just a bit of a joke outfit.

We should have a bit of a feel-good factor about the club with our first season back up seeing us comfortably clear of relegation and people looking to next season, yet we've got no information about season tickets for next season where the club should be looking to capitalise. New contracts are being signed by players and management, but on our own website there's only a one sentence mention of three of them with nothing about the others. We do however have a nonsense article about a competition we'll be running in our programme next season, which naturally talks in clichés and doesn't explicitly state what the prize is. There's not even a mention of the new strip on there; regardless of being shite you'd think the club would try to promote it, but nothing on the website, nothing on twitter and we don't even have a facebook or instagram. The homepage of the website does have a link to buy merchandise - as we release our kit for the 2016/17 season, the strip displayed on the image is our home kit from 2008/09.

The one thing we've got from the club for next season has got the fans completely slamming the club and at odds with them once again, and as ever the fans are in the right and the club can't see they've fucked up. It sounds an over-reaction to a bad strip, but we can all name countless examples of little mistakes which are unimportant in isolation but at Morton add up to a bigger picture of a club which is just a complete shambles from top to bottom. This culture of rank incompetence which infects the club isn't going to change until we have a change of ownership. No doubt we'll have Rae and a few choice sycophants informing us that it's all the big bad boo-boy fans fault though.

Didn't realise things were that bad at your club. From the outside it looks like you had a good season last year and had a good chance to build upon that. But the stuff you've highlighted is pretty dreadful, and sounds familiar to a lot of clubs who don't care about their fans. My club had the same when they didn't give a shit about the fans.

Lads, I've just come in to give you my commiserations on that strip. No fan should have to go a game in that thing

And they don't: nobody puts a gun to a fan's head to buy some piece of shit polyester produced by the club at £40 a go.

That sounds grim.

Dundee did the same thing a few years back and it was successful.

Yeah it's tangible feedback at least, nothing wrong with that.
