The Greenock Morton Thread - It's Better Than Yours

Carlisle fan here, general opinion on Iredale folks?
Will likely be first choice left-back for us now Danny Grainger has retired.

Powerfully quick once he gets in his stride which is a real asset. Still extremely raw and has to be talked through games a lot of the time and told where to be on the pitch but that will improve with experience.

Final ball needs improvement too but he's only had two years of professional football and he's young enough that he can improve drastically given the physical ability he has.

I equally wouldn't be surprised whether he went there and absolutely bossed it or if he went there and barely played a match because it could go either way.

He's a confidence player who in his day has a great engine on him, pace and put a good ball into the box. Not the finished product but there's potential there.

The main shareholder would need to retain 75% of the shares for group loss relief to work. On that basis a 15% shareholding has no influence whatsoever. If Dunning become the 15% rep Crawford might let him rumble on for five minutes about the squad only having 17 holding midfielders but he ain't going to listen. Much better to lend the company the money secured on the ground with options to call in the loan if conditions aren't met.

On a pro rata basis C is valuing the company at £2.67m but of course the bulk of the company's value lies in the controlling shares. You would still be wanting the debt to be written off though before piling in at that valuation.

No. 1- D. Lennon (He won the League Cup & is still lorded dwn Fegland Way)

No.2- Hopkin, for obvious reasons.

No.3- Goodwin, weve no chance of getting him.

No.4- Archibald, don’t think he would want it, but if he did...

The rest; absolutely NOT.

I think he would jump at the chance to take the Morton job. Has been out of football and working on the railways for the past 8 months, and I think any offer from a FT team would be very appealing to him.

Problem I see with Archibald is he's never proven he can start anything from scratch. With Thistle he inherited McNamara's team that already had an identity and a squad full of hungry young players, and barely changed anything with regards to playing style or the type of players he signed in the 5-6 years he was with us. Would be very wary of him as an appointment at Morton.

There speaks our resident Endemol CEO, HMRC tax specialist, Nobel Laureate and first man to reach the South Pole. Or as you’re otherwise to all, a drooling, Walter Mitty fantasist.

Get back in your box then.

Took Thistle to a top six, & not forgetting the winner takes all disaster in April ‘13 V us. Btw, he’s now No. 3. Danny boy signed a new contract with Clyde.

There’s no No.4. There can’t be.

Yeah, the references to 'The Morton Way' have an undeniable whiff of birthday caird pish about them.

Given some of the accusations thrown about on here in the last couple of years from some Morton fans to others within their own support, 'The Morton Way' will involve getting about 60% of the required funds before someone with wandering fingers decides to swipe the kitty.

Would be very surprised if it's not Hopkin, he's the perfect fit and hiring him would take the heat of Crawford for a bit. It's an appointment that almost all Morton fans would be fine with and wouldn't be outside Cappielow with the pitchforks an hour after the announcement. He's a Morton man who has shares in the club and a supporter, he's jobless and lets face it he's up against it to find another full time job going that's bigger than Morton, his last failed gig would have drained out the success he had at Livi.

On the back of all of that, it'll be Stevie Aitken.
