Your chairman will fair be missing that 100k he was whining about though. Bitter, salty tears.

If that's what makes you happy :y:

At the end of the day he was right to be annoyed given that you clearly acted dishonestly.

Getting it right up him makes you come across as a bit of a fud

Bit confused as to how Falkirk fans could take this as any sort of a win. It's a pretty damning report on the way in which people at Falkirk and McKinnon conducted themselves. The only club that have been as naive or malicious as to act in this way since the early 90s.

No real deterrant though as we'd have probably had to pay something in that region as a reasonable sum for compensation anyway.

Well yes, exactly. So in future clubs will be less like to be underhand rather than just paying the compo in the first place.

A deterrent if you will

Given that we have 28 days to pay and the right to appeal and  given that 20k is suspended, all I can take from this is that comprehension is not your strong point.

Cost so far is 3k in charges to the beaks at Hampden.

'haha we can appeal the decision haha'

Terrific stuff

The whole thing would've been over far quicker

No I for one would far prefer the cash going to some SPFL trust than one of the other sides in our league so would be more inclined to go about it this way than the other.  Morton would've probably come out of this with a few quid if your chairman had simply said aye  give us 40k and you can have him instead of the way he handled it.

The Falkirk fans with about as much comprehension of legal matters as their board and their clown of a manager it’d appear. This is one issue sorted, and we’re now entitled to a significant enough compensation amount. Pretty bizare to be championing this as some sort of victory, complete minter.

Nah,it happens fairly regularly. McCall walked out on us to go to Dundee Utd.

Claiming otherwise is merely ignoring evidence to bolster a weak point.

At least Dundee Utd accepted that Falkirk should be compensated.

From the point of the tribunal, they had to look back to the Tommy Burns case for something to draw upon.

United did exactly what we did except instead of whining to the league at the time we took the compensation on offer and moved on.  If the morton chairman hadnt come out with some ridiculous compo wish of 100k for a guy on a 40k 1 year contract who no longer wishes to be there then a nominal fee for compensation would've been agreed and this wouldnt have dragged on and on.

The statement from the SPFL suggests that McKinnon was on a lot more than that.

That's a pretty big leap  from anything that Falkirk have stated. It's quite clear that they never at any point had any intention of offering any compensation. Indeed, Falkirk initially demanded 10 times what Dundee Utd wanted to offer for McCall and they managed to come to an agreement in the end, so I don't think there's any reason to believe an unrealistic demand was the reason why no compensation was given. Falkirk simply never accepted that they had done anything wrong or had to pay anything at all.

Does this not put it in that area:

Accordingly, we consider that the appropriate range for an immediate financial penalty should be in the general range of the basic figure for the contract of Mr McKinnon, on an annual basis, which net would be in the region of £40,000, and we consider that to be an appropriate figure.
