Good 20 mins of highlights for our game today. Looked as though Iredale did really well at left back. Should he keep his place for next week?

On today's showing he should definitely start next week. Strange that he started in front of Russell and strapp though.

Duffy quite likes that strong, tall back 4 in bigger games so prob why he got the nod.

Very impressive from highlights. Certainly gives us another option there which we weren't really aware of.

Delighted that our most favoured front two got goals yesterday. Our forwards have been under a bit of pressure to score more so great to see them do that. Hopefully they kick on.

Admin saving the servers imho, they would have melted when today's lineup was anmounced.

When it's back up, I insist we start Saturday's match thread again and all those who posted "FFS" and the like at seeing the line up should be made to do so again.

And they would. Happily.

Anyone who says the choice of lineup was expected is delusional.

So it worked out and we won. Doesn't take away from the fact it was an unfathomable teamsheet for the third week in a row.

Nor does it mean that a conventional lineup wouldn't also have won, perhaps even more convincingly.

So we won this time, well all hail Jim and forgive the previous 2 tombola teamsheet failings.

By all means be critical of the line up - but at least wait and see how the game turns out.

Yes, because that's how it works.

No fan has knowledge of the players, has an idea of what they believe is the strongest line up and can see a teamsheet that is plucked from nowhere/a risk for the third week in a row and express disdain when the previous 2 experimental lineups failed miserably.

It worked this week. Whoopee doo. Doesn't excuse the fact that we are nearly at the end of January and Duffy has no idea what our best lineup, or formation, is.

I go on the basis that the team is picked for the specific game. I have no idea why players are dropped unless it's public knowledge (like Jai being on the bench yesterday) but I presume there are reasons whyp layers are moved or left out. If it doesn't work and the defeat/crap draw is of our own doing then the manager is rightly criticised.

You have bought into Duffy's ridiculous excuse for team changes then. When often it fails miserably.

Like last week. No attempt to play to the conditions or the opposition can excuse leaving Murdoch out, the only energy in our midfield.

Yesterday. It is very hard to justify plucking our 4th choice (at least) left back, who hasn't actually played that position since being here, out of nowhere.

It worked, fair play. But expect the criticism that comes with bewildering team selections.

Why was Murdoch left out last week? I couldn't make the game and haven't heard if it's been mentioned.

Given that we dont have that much knowledge of iredale apart from a couple of performances in the early cup rounds at centre half and no real knowledge of Ross, then it is pretty fair to say that an over reaction to yesterday's team sheet was premature. Ayrshireton is perfectly correct in pointing that out.

Having made the mistake of leaving murdoch out the starting eleven the week before, he appears to have addressed the issue and played with width this time. A number of people were calling for Russell to be given a rest. Others were saying he can't be dropped for a 17-18 year old. Oliver's performance last Saturday was complimented. Many noted him as our best attacking player.

Duffys tombola approach appears to have flukily struck lucky this time. Nothing to do with addressing issues that many had argued needed dealt with.

Iredale started very badly but settled in the second half. He isn't a left back though and so shouldn't be playing there unless in an emergency. The Tiffoney experiment and playing Tidser on the right of midfield didn't really work either, so there's no reason why we can't actually build on a fine cup swording by selecting a more credible line-up next week.

Ross was impressive for a first start: having a wide player that thinks about delivery instead of floating crosses over to midgets like Oliver should be a big step forward. Doyle's decision-making continues to be utterly useless in that regard.
