The Greenock Morton Thread - It's Better Than Yours

Recommended Posts

This is a rare thing under Imrie in being a signing that gives us no straws to clutch at on paper - if MacPherson or Hopkin had made it they'd be hounded - but Imrie's hit rate with signings and track record with turning players around has been that good I'm happy to see if he can get an improvement out of him.

A striker was always going to be a difficult one to attract when we were obviously bringing someone in to be second choice. You aren't getting one of the more promising youngsters from the Premiership or a more established name who's surplus to requirements such as Oli Shaw to sit on the bench.

It gives us an option to replace Muirhead in the last 20 minutes of games now rather than switching him with Quitongo being our only option to change things up front.

Roy is a league two player at best.  Alright at putting away sitters in the six-yard box but unable to get much if anything on target from further out.  Can supposedly play on the left wing too but no tangible evidence of this was seen during his time at Queens.  Hangs on to the ball too long.  Some say he is lazy but he does show glimpses of energy when running into the wrong position or bottling a challenge.  A right whiney wee cnut too.

On the positive side if he scores against Thistle their fans will likely have a meltdown.

Worth every single penny for this alone, IMO. Horrible club.

We should be looking to bring someone in to be first choice, though; for all Muirhead's improvement, there's no way he's a regular first pick for a team with serious play-off aspirations.

I'm hoping Roy will come on down the right flank to give Quitongo a break (which he needs, or injury is just around the corner) and that there's an actual centre forward still to come...

He has 6 goals in his last 12 league games, which coincides with moving to centre forward from the wing. There's no chance he's being dropped.

Don’t forget about the 10 failed attempts a game to round the keeper

Nobody's saying he hasn't done well or that he isn't much better through the middle than down the right... but undroppable? Starting every game, regardless? That's ridiculous.

We should be looking to sign someone who's going to at the very least challenge Muirhead for a starting slot through the middle. Very disappointing if Roy turns out to be all we get in that position

He’s considerably better than Ally Roy! He’s a fast, direct winger with loads of energy, he’ll star in your division.

Previous poster getting a bit carried away… truth is there probably is a player in there, but he’s young, has a lot to learn, and will likely find L1 very challenging, at least until he gets a few games under his belt.

Good attitude, will run all day, every possibility he develops at Airdrie. Hope so.

I'd take that over Ally Roy any day of the week 😎
